looking at this one, KNGRSM's latest streamable has much closer fog than this. it is much further away and I love that, though. I guess I was just hoping the blue tint would be gone.

it's like BF3...

that was with default color grading, what you saw in KNG video is the alternate colorgrading ( darker/less colorful, thats what we prefer ), there will be two version, one with default and another with alternate coloring, and no you cant get ride of the blue fog completely, its even in the 2014 build

release should be tomorrow/sunday

Question to essenthy and KNG. Based on what you guys did and saw, which lighting mod do YOU guys prefer? Default or Alternative?

Also......what the hell is this?

That mod makes everything look way too washed out to be honest.

The screenshots posted with the mod don't really put it in a great light.

I installed this one to give it a try, and it came out like thus (Ignore the shitty Imgur compression):

As long as your monitor is calibrated properly it shouldn't look quite as bright and washed out as the official Mod Pics. Also you can play with your Game Gamma setting to darken it up a bit.

Regardless, it's a nice little taste of just how superb that draw distance can be, and how beautiful those vistas are without the fog (Or at least minimal fog). And the fact that as more people figure out how to muck around with the lighting, the more choices will pop up via various mods. The more people trying different things with the graphics/lighting the better, and I'm looking forward to seeing KNG/Essenthy's "finished" efforts (Quotations because work is never done, and I'm sure there'll still be things in the release they're unhappy about because they couldn't fix, like Sunshafts/AO etc).

Wow, its going to take a long time for me to get used to playing w3 without ambient occlusion, first thought was its like a ps3 game. Looking at vigilence's screenshots.. yeah with some tweaking i can imagine some very nice artistic themes/screenshots coming from these mods.

Also.. it will be possible to recover some of the ambient occlusion lost via reshade.. or forcing it in the control panel.. hmm...

EDIT: Nevermind. Ambient occulsion seems to be there in force.. its just like the grass isn't getting shadowed at all...

I'll bet my ass that while removing the blue fog looks good on PC, it looks terrible on console because their draw distance is horrendous. An artistic choice, yes, and it fits with them having one build for all.

Anyway, back to the original question to Essenthy and KNG. Based on what you guys did and saw, which lighting mod do YOU guys prefer? Default or Alternative?

Also, do you think it will be possible to have AO working in the future?

This new lighting mod by vikart is actually looking very good, but you have to use SweetFX with it. I am using Real Medieval preset a bit edited by myself, with this preset this lighting mod looks very nice. On default game look, without SweetFX, it looks terrible. But this is no wonder, because game by default look awful with its colors. But with SweetFX it looks good, and Light Shafts are working quite fine for me so far. They are bugged only in Velen, in Novigrad they are working normally.
