When Geralt is talking to Dandelian, he refers to the Grand Master with Disdain, Both the voice tone, the body language and the expresions point that he could give a shit less about Alvin. This is incongruent with the quests you have to play in Chapter IV, and with the plotline(Identity) I chose.Regardless of that the little surprise at the end was a great Idea but it could had been much better realized, the monsters are fairly easy and not even the grandmaster represents a challange. Again we find bugs: I couldn't scavenge the Lich King's Body after defeating him, this bug appeared since chapter IV in the swamps. For the surprise realization I wish they had shown the amulet while Geralt was finishing the Grandmaster Off, The gut didn't even made a tiny squeel when he was killed. Why?In the dialogs, It desn't even feel like they hate each other. Again much info is lost in translation.Anyhow 3 Hurrays For the Polish Game Designers, They bring a new taste of gameplay to the table. Is good not to see soap opera for a change. WHo knows, Geralt Kneeling lamentig why he killed poor Alvin? Then Triss shows up and...You get the idea.

Its not perfect narrative by any means but for the gaming medium its of an excellent standard!Ive playd game after game where the narrative and character and plot development seemed to have been done by trained chimps as an after thought on a budget of bannanas, so to see some decent quality coming to the games is a refreshing change. Ive always said that game developers should hire writers, people who love plot and subplot, conflict and tension, character building and destruction and let the technical guys do the technical stuff, the artists do the art and the writer do the plot work, dialogues and character stuff.Im not sure who actually did the plot work on the game but overall its pretty decent, id say it probably wasnt a pure writers project given some of the choices or maybe they had to copromise a lot to fit the game and the narrative together, but overall it was a wonderful experience all things considered.Compared to normal game standars, which is like The Sun newspaper gone bad (how that can get worse I dont know) its genius :D

Game was awesome, ending was good, but: 1. no continuation of your "heart of hearts" (what happens w/ your soulmate ?) perhaps the devs idea here is that Geralt is destined to always walk alone - without shadow..... 2. The gutwrenching realization that you may be killing the surrogate child you had tried to raise as your own.... again, creative license on the twisted side * Those guys hit the "nail on the head" with their closing credits soundtrack! totally awesome! Melancholy violins transitioning to "kick-ass" - leaves me just engrossed every time! * Need to make soundtrack available on CD..... to Poland, & a round of applause..... then get your sorry a$$es to work on a sequel, dammit! ;)

besides what I said in the previous post, there isn't a heckuvalotofdifference (new word) in the endings. they all take you to the same place, same final cutscene.

I really wanted to see a resolution to the Identity quest at the end of the game -- I wanted Geralt to get his memory back and for us to be told who resurrected him and why. Sure, the first game in a series usually needs some sort of cliffhanger so that players will be motivated to buy the sequel, but I thought the assassin was enough to hang another game on; they didn't need to keep us in the dark about the identity stuff, too.

I saw his resurrection as a device of the "King of the Hunt", where he was just using Geralt as a tool to catch larger fish. What I wanted was a nice "Love story" ending, but I guess that doesn't work well if this is only the first game of a series.

The King of the Wild Hunt certainly CLAIMS that he resurrected Geralt in order to maximize the amount of death, but I don't believe him. The King of the Wild Hunt says that Geralt has brought violence everywhere and made everything he touches worse or something like that, and that's certainly not true for my Geralt, who's been righting wrongs and breaking curses and freeing brickmakers and that sort of thing. The King of the Wild Hunt twisted everything Geralt did to make it look as negative as possible, and many of the things he said twisted Geralt's behavior out of all recognition. I think he was trying to demoralize Geralt so that he would hand over the Grand Master or so that he would lose if he chose to fight. It's quite possible that it WAS the King of the Wild Hunt who resurrected Geralt, but since he's done nothing but lie to Geralt, I won't believe it just on his say so.

Yeah. And since the ending cutscene makes it clear that there's more work for Geralt to do (in tracking down where the assassin came from and who hired him and all that), a settling down "happily ever after" would have been premature.

Sorry But that's not what this query is about is about the ending YOU PLAY. Not the consequences of your choices during gameplay. The ending is always the same regardless the consequences. Please read before you post.

Sad to say, neither Triss nor Shani were ever your soulmate. Geralt's soulmate was Yennefer, who died when he died.

Yennefer was the soulmate of the Geralt who has his memory. The Geralt in the game is a new Geralt, who may well have a different soulmate.

(though I don't understand were did you see body language... :D )I liked the ending. Nothing more I can say about epilogue or fighting. But the cutsceen that folowed, with Dandelion as narrator made me smile. Though I wasn't surprised about what he said about fight between scoia'tael and dh'oine, I was surprised by what King said to Geralt when he paid him! :D

Regarding bodylanguage, being the last actual dialog ingame they could have made a script to make Geralt express something while refering to Alvin, instead they decided to place it like they did: Jaques Whatever is dead whatever his Real Name was, spit on the floor was the one thing missing. So is more like lack of Body Language. What was what the King said in your choice tree?

Awesome ending. Left me wondering. Altough it you could have continued your choices in the dialog with Dandelion, like choosing if you cared about Alvin or not and so on...

I agree with Despingator. Kind of another "disconnect" in the storyline - much like the romance part. After all the build-up about his romantic interest, and all the "Alvin thinks of you as a father"... the lack of emotion for what just took place @ the end leaves a bad taste in my mouth. No indecision... no what if... just "yeah, he's over there. I done killed him real good. see ya."

I'm trough now as well. And i have to say, that it is a fitting, but kind of sad ending. The hole Alvin/Jaques thing and the other witcher (?), how tried to kill Foltest...O.k., seems like an ongoing story, but it really left me with affliction...
