Eredin Nerf - what's the point

OK so Eredin has been nerfed and no longer seems to be treated as a Gold card although the visual is the same. So he's a Leader card worth 10 points with no Abilities and subject to special cards. He must be the most pointless leader card in the deck. As a Leader card, what is there to set him above a Manticore (silver 10)?

He synergizes with Wild Hunt units and weather decks. He also gives you a strong opening if you want to motivate your opponent to forfeiting the round. If he's taken out early, you can play Ghoul to absorb his 10 Strength. And of course, there's a chance of him staying for the next round. Not so pointless.

Instead of playing Gerald, Ciri, Eredin first round and having Geralt or Eredin stay on board (granted you lose that round), you will know for sure Eredin will stay and can be buffed in the second round. Don't see a big problem (coming from someone who uses a Monster deck often).

To be honest I thought that Eredin was a pretty lame before he was changed. He was a plain and simple 10-Points Gold Card you couldn't do anything other with than to hope he stays on the field for one more round. Basically a worse Geralt. Most if not all other leader-abilities have some more synergy with their deck.
Now admittedly he can get scorched just as fast as you play him, but you can also buff him and integrate him in some nice Wild Hunt-Deck.
