Eredin's voice

I don't know if this is thread worthy, but I really want to know other people's opinion on the change in Eredin's voice. As you may or may not have noticed, his voice sounds quite different in the latest trailer compared to VGX and SoD. It already sounded different in SoD, but that wasn't a drastic change and it still sounded good imo. This time however I feel like they've really made it worse. In the VGX trailer it had a certain cold metallic feel to it, which sounded pretty unique and badass. In SoD it still retained some of that, but it just sounded clearer, so it was easier to hear what he said. Now it just sounds like a way too low generic evil demonic voice to me. Do you agree with this, or do you like the change they made in his voice? Which one is your favorite?

In SOD, it wasn't Eredin's voice, it was the voice of the Wild Hunt mage.

I don't really mind the voice change, as most of us couldn't understand shit from Eredin's voice in the VGX trailer, but yes, the demonic voice is kind of generic, but personally, I do not mind at all.

I didn't like his new look at first, but after seeing his new look in-game, my opinion changed :p

Oh shit I didn't know it was the mage in SoD :p

Still, I personally think the VGX voice is much better and it was perfectly understandable to me lol

that line "You cannot defy the cold of our steel" took a while for people to finally get what he was saying :p

The delivery on, "Geralt, have some dignity, you know how this will end" was absolutely SUPERB.

I had no problems understanding Eredin's filter in the VGX Trailer, however I definitely think the edited voice there sounded more menacing and powerful than the one used in SoD/Elder Blood.

However that begs the question.. Do we know for fact that it's Eredin's Voice? I disagree that Elder Blood/SoD sound different, they sound exactly the same. So if SoD wasn't Eredin, then perhaps Elder Blood is the same general who did the dialogue in SoD?

If it is Eredin, well I'm not really angry at the change, it still sounds great, but VGX definitely had more power to it.

How do you know it was the mage in SoD btw? Was it confirmed?

The voice in Elder Blood is definitely lower than the one in SoD. I can hear a clear difference. But yeah, I didn't really consider the fact of it not being Eredin's voice lol. I'm pretty sure it is though.

I'm asking the question too, because I'm not sure. It's actually the first I've heard people saying SoD wasn't Eredin.

Maybe the voices are ever-so-slightly deeper? I dunno, maybe my hearing at that level isn't quite as acute, but I can barely tell any difference.

Long time lurker, yet somehow I missed that. Do we know anything about him which I might have also missed?

But he's no Duck :)

Dug around a bit, seems the name was taken from Tolkien's Legendarium. Was the name confirmed or can it be a placeholder and the general is based on Tolkien's character?

I have no idea if CDPR are planning a surprise reveal, but so far, the Mage General's name is Caranthir.

Can you give me a link? Googled Caranthir and it turns out it's an elf from LoTR.

The new voice is downright terrible. Period. It's the voice of a cartoony super-villain altered by a computer instead of a voice of a real, believable character spoken by a real human being without some artifiical voice alteration.

Probably the most disappointing element of the new trailer.

I remember CDPR releasing the pictures of the Wild Hunt generals with their names in the description on their Facebook Page.

I cannot link you the Witcher FB post, as I cannot find it, but you have to trust me that the names are accurate :p

Caranthir

Imlerith

And Eredin.

I agree, it sounds really ridiculous now. The more I listen to it, the more I wish they would've stayed with the VGX version or even the SoD one (if that actually was Eredin speaking and not the mage). I don't get why they felt the need to change it. It sounded fine before. I just don't understand how anyone could think this sounds better. I hope they change it till release.
