Even Odds Achievement.

I'm having trouble with this one on Death March. Obviously I didn't know about this achievement before white orchard.

so I can't use signs, potions, bombs or mutgaens.

I was pretty sure I did this with 3 contracts atleast 2. I have the mutgaens unequipped not even potions equipped.

But I use food and crossbow. Anyone tell me what they did?

Several threads on Steam, too. No solution it seems. I did my experimentation, too, and realized that something isn't working as expected with this achievement.
I tried lowest difficulty to make sure I really only need to hit the first contact boss from the prologue with my sword and don't even need to consume food, but it didn't seem to count.

Not sure what might be the problem here. I got it with relative ease. Not on death march, admittedly, but the difficulty below that one. Maybe the food is the problem because the game counts it as potions? That would be my only guess here. Tried it without any help(crossbow, food etc) yet? If not, give it a try.

Two more tries now, one on lowest difficulty, the other on level 2. I know that Steam achievements usually don't work that way, but is it required to kill two different creatures, maybe even within the same savegame chain?
