  • Birthday : 16th January
  • Family status : single
  • job / education / school: student
  • dream job: Something with medicine and animals - so, a vet?
  • Hobbies: writing stories, reading, listening to music, playing the clarinet, gaming, kinda daydreaming

  • Who do you wish to meet once in life (RL): ToC
  • If you have 1.000.000 Euro/Dollar/your currency, what would you do with it: Travel around, I think. Or nothing. Can't even imagine that much money.
  • Why do you love The Witcher: Because of the story, the characters, the grey decisions, the feeling. Because it helps me remember. And the music.
  • Favorite character in TW (max 2) : Let's see. Yen. Regis.
  • If you could be a monster in TW, which one and why: Guess, a human one. Because in every one of us there's a little monster sleeping.

Welcome to the forum Brigid!

Animator, that's great! There weren't any animators on the forum before (unless I just missed them). Did you follow the development of Armikrog? It's a great stop motion animation based game, kind of a sequel to the Neverhood.

Haha, currently. I'm considering a transition TBH because the stuff they teach at my school gives you the skills to only get hired at someplace like Disney or making children's shows. While I can appreciate the art behind it, but it is not what I want to do in the long run. xD

Never knew that they were making a Neverhood sequel though. O: I remember playing Neverhood at a gallery showcasing the history of video games. That new sequel looks pretty sick though. I'll keep an eye on it now. <3

Are you more interested in gaming animation? It should be quite in demand I guess.

Neverhood is one of my all time favorite adventure games (we have a whole thread about them here). It's actually quite playable on modern systems now using ScummVM. And Armikrog is supposed to be coming in the end of the year, so supposedly quite soon. I supported their Kickstarter - it was quite a close call and all supporters were excited when the goal was reached.

There is a thread about Armikrog here too :)

Some animated images I collected around:

This is the kind of animation I'm pretty interested in:

Sadly, the family audience/comedy audience provides a lot of safe money, so that's why I don't think I would be able to make something I really want if I go through the traditional route. That's actually why I'm considering games, since its still in its infancy as an art form. (Great art direction trumps realistic graphics, IMO)

And thanks for the information about Neverhood and Amikrog! When I get my new computer I'll add it to the list of the old games I'm going to play for the X-Mas break.

@Brigid : Ah, Norstein is indeed a famous animator. Hedgehog in the Fog is a classic. Sometime ago I saw a nice short animation by Irina Litmanovitch, which was inspired by Norstein's style somewhat (I think she kind of follows his school):

Well, computer games have been around for quite a while already, and I at least don't consider them to be in infancy when it comes to art. There were quite a number of masterpieces amongst them (even in the early days - same classic adventures or RPG games for example). But I guess if you compare it with film making which is more than a century old already, then it's a young field indeed.

Actually, animation is a difficult gig to get into without the most jaw dropping work. From what I've seen, most companies are only looking for experienced people (and there aren't huge amounts of openings), so breaking in can be a long, tough road, though some people are skilled or lucky or have the network connections. Indie projects are typically the most entry-level friendly. Programming - now that is a field that is always in demand, especially given the different kinds of positions that use it.

That said, @Brigid good luck to you and always nice to meet another animator!

Those dates that you remember being happy approach. Where no matter what I feel bad because I expected someone to comfort me. My heart did not ask because he already knew. My heart no doubt because he already had.

Today the lights shine as always but they do not heat because they are now not more than a decoration.
I turned inside my coat for the scars were not visible to the happy eyes. But the seams of the liner reveal the void.

My heart does not trust anymore because I lied him. I filled with smiling patches the gifts lost between the fingers of my memory.
My heart no longer believes to me because I cheated on him. And as punishment he makes me laugh me right where my eyes sting me.

Because my heart recalls in my forgetfulness that I made a promise to his master: Never lose your sense of humor.
Now I must make my heart back to believing in me, and make myself still smiling to my memories.

  • Birthday : I am 18
  • Family status : single and not looking to mingle
  • job / education / school: high school senior, attending Florida State University come August
  • dream job: economist, lobbyist, investor
  • Hobbies: gaming (PC), bass guitar, writing, football
  • Things you hate in RL: homework, racism, cold rainy weather
  • If you were a gardening tool, which one and why: shovel; because if the apocalypse happens, a shovel would be very useful
  • Who do you wish to meet once in life (RL): Tauheed Epps aka 2 Chainz
  • If you have 1.000.000 Euro/Dollar/your currency, what would you do with it: invest it
  • Why do you love The Witcher: I love how even the "bad" characters have their own quite reasonable motives. If I was in any character's shoes, I could justify behaving in such a way. Although The Witcher is set in a fantasy world, there is nothing fictional about the way characters act. And the various degrees of exposure amongst mages is appreciated of course! :p
  • Favorite character in TW (max 2) : Iorveth; He just looks and sounds like a total badass! I am also a fan of elves in general (LOTR). Cynthia; Not sure why I like her so much. I like her diverse personality. She's cunning and ruthless like most Nilfgaardians but shows compassion and passion. She's smart, capable, and skilled. I also really like her Nilfgaardian mage jacket and hood.
  • If you could be a monster in TW, which one and why: Hellhound because "RELEASE THE HOUNDS!!"

  • Family Status: Always Single, I prefer animal companions.
  • Job / Education / School: Game Development Student, Freelance Graphic Designer
  • Dream Job: Level Design @ CDPR or EIDOS/Square Enix or Bethesda
  • Hobbies: Gaming, Graphic Design, Reading textbooks and novels, Hiking, Camping, Magic the Gathering, Visiting used bookstores for old prints, are my main hobbies.
  • Things you hate in RL: Untidiness, Sugarcoated Criticism
  • If you were a gardening tool, which one and why: Hand Pruner because it reflects my attention to detail personality.
  • Who do you wish to meet once in life (RL): Paul Walker, may he rest in peace, otherwise no one in particular, but maybe Yukito Kishiro, creator of Battle Angel Alita, if I could understand Japanese.
  • If you have 1.000.000 Euro/Dollar/your currency, what would you do with it: Allocate some of it for personal use, get lessons in Japanese, I would get my dream dog (a hybrid German Poodle & Australian Shepard), donate some to indie developers, save the rest and use it on a need-to basis.
  • Why do you love The Witcher: It's dark, gruesome, vivid, and morally gray. I simply love it. There are little to no lines between good and evil in the story, both in the books and the games, whether actions are right or wrong all depend on your perspective.
  • Favorite character in TW (max 2): Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzieff-Godefroy and Cahir Mawr Dyffryn aep Ceallach.
  • If you could be a monster in TW, which one and why: I would be an Imperial Manticore. Of the little information we have from a flashback, the Imperial Manticore is old and seclusive, living on mountain peaks. Which fits my quiet personality in a way, with the exception of the old part.

I notice many people don't use the formatting in the OP because it's admittedly a pain in the butt to format everything so I've made a template everyone can copy and paste into their post! :)

I was going to be informal but then I realised the OP was going to collect portraits?

  • Firstname in RL: Audrew?
  • Birthday: 21 03 1995
  • Family Status: I have one parent and three siblings. None of them appreciate the Witcher *~*
  • Job / Education / School: Manager of a Fish and Chip Shop / Major in Linguistics at University of Western Australia
  • Dream Job: Art Director of animation, film or video games. I want to make animations, comics and otherwise produce many of my own paintings throughout my life as well as hit some critical direction job. Preferably not in Australia because nothing happens here unless you like mines.
  • Hobbies: DRAWING AND PAINTING, playing video games, writing, reading, being witty on the internet and reviewing milkshakes of specifically Perth.
  • Things you hate in RL: TONY ABBOTT liars.
  • If you were a gardening tool, which one and why: A HOE BECAUSE I PLOUGH.
  • Who do you wish to meet once in life (RL): Craig Mullins, Jana Schirmer, Tiago Ribeiro.... *sigh*
  • If you have 1.000.000 Euro/Dollar/your currency, what would you do with it: I would open up my own milkshake shop and make a lot of milkshakes of various qualities and quanitites for various prices and basically ruin everyone else in the milkshake industry and as a result, rule the world. (4 srs, i'd like to own my own milkshake shop, but it's probably never going to happen, tbh)
  • Why do you love The Witcher: Because it has everything I could possibly ask for in a series of fantasy novels and games. THe passion from the community (eg. the devs and the forum goers) is awe inspiring and amazing and I just love it.
  • Favorite character in TW (max 2): Cirilla and Bonhart. I'm a huge fan of character relationships too-- so there's that mutually hateful one, but also GERLAT AND CIRI *cute eyes* so make a category for that dude, and I'll be all over that.
  • If you could be a monster in TW, which one and why: I'D BE A TROLL. NO NEED TO EXPLAIN.

Man, I goshdamn love animation. Can we have a thread for animation? Let's have a thread for animation: http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/34053-Animation-Thread!?p=1562271

  • Firstname in RL: Thomas (but I prefer Tom, or Tommy)
  • Birthday: 1993.10.21.
  • Family Status: Single. I live with my dad, and my younger brother. My younger brother kinda likes Witcher, he played the first game
  • Job / Education / School: Studying at the moment in college, in touristic organizer class. Last exam on june 10th, then off to find a job
  • Dream Job: Hmm.. that's a tough one. I would love to be a shooting instructor in the USA, shooting sports are popular there, and I am a shooter myself.
  • Hobbies: shooting sports, reading, movies, listening to movie soundtacks (especially the ones composed by Hans Zimmer), airsoft, video games, karate, running
  • Things you hate in RL: that's easy, MATH lol. Seriously though, that things are getting more and more expensive.
  • If you were a gardening tool, which one and why: a screwdriver
  • Who do you wish to meet once in life (RL): Christopher Nolan, he is a genius, Kiefer Sutherland, Christian Bale
  • If you have 1.000.000 Euro/Dollar/your currency, what would you do with it: I would move to the USA, serve in the army (to earn citizenship, I know you can get it by exams, but this way you actually earn it in my opinion), maybe live in New York, and visit many many places in the country, as I absolutely love the country.
  • Why do you love The Witcher: It has an amazing story, with magic, monsters, great characters.. all the things that makes it one of the best fantasy worlds. I especially loved those parts in the books when Geralt was investigating monster tracks.
  • Favorite character in TW (max 2): Iorveth and Geralt
  • If you could be a monster in TW, which one and why: I think I'd go with the troll too haha. Idgit humie! "Elf and onion soup.. gooooood. Want try?" lol

Most. Boring. Answer. Ever.
