Almost everyone is farming cash one way or another online today. I still remember the times when people did things just for fun. I struggle to find genuine passion.

Or maybe I'm just getting older too.

Today seems like the future is really far away.

And there are days when it seems like the future is now.

Do not despair, we are not there yet. But romanticising the 'good old days' I'm not there yet.

I wonder if humanity will eventually ban computers like the people in Dune, and focus instead on developing human mental capabilities instead. (In Dune they have people called Mentats, who are pretty much human computers.)

It just seems to me that our minds are becoming increasingly weaker as technology progresses.

Our memory and attention span have suffered.

We constantly seek instant gratification.

We are less empathetic nowadays and often prefer the company of our screens to that of other people.

Handwriting is becoming a lost art. It's a pity we don't write letters anymore, they felt much more personal than a text message.

There are waaay too many people. 7.8 billion! Was (only) 6 at the beginning of the millennium.
There are waaay too many cars. 8.8 million in my country alone. Compared with 10 years ago, that's 13.7% more cars.
Hate the global toning down of sexualization in media. It has gone waaay out of hand, up to a point that it has been severely negatively influencing my life and all media is prematurely censored dead. (CP77 is a preem example).

Actually the Internet is getting kind of old .... I've been on it for over 30 years (September 1991)

It was a lot cooler in the 90's before it became nothing but one big advertisement, granted streaming Quicktime video on a 56k dial-up kinda sucked

I wonder what the world will look like between 2050-2100.
If the common perception and/or CP's vision will/can be correct.
Both the stuff we can and can't imagine.

What's for certain is that we are doing increasingly more and more damage to the planet, and we can't manage ourselves in too many ways to stop doing so.

As for Global warming...hmm. There are powerful people that make alot of money by keeping things as it is and thus bribe other powerful people to not do anything about it, but alot of people are also aware and concerned of the problem. I do believe we will be ok in the end.

The modern world is not the problem, at least not from a technical perspective. It is and remains the human being is this huge ambivalence to create good and at the same time so much bad. And currently a lot of bad things are happening, so that the good things seem to be less and less visible and tangible, but thus all the more important.
