Steam JUST yesterday deleted all my Fallout 4 saves going back MANY years! Internet says you should turn off cloud saves to prevent this.

I did have the $%&$@ #&%#% $$%#$ #$%!@@@ cloud saves off!
But steam decided to "clean up" my fallout folder anyway.

ONE week after I said on the Bethesda forums it was possible for Bethesda (and other games companies) to sneak microtransaction mechanics into even OLD games like Fallout 4 because of the forced online connection to your games it actually happen. They started the "creation club" and jammed it into my years old game like a thief in the night with no approve, or notification.

I was half way thru GTA when they changed the games specs (this was a few years ago) to force you to deviate your connection to their new launcher from steam and now my PC is no longer is able to run the game I purchased because they changed the specs on the game I had purchased long ago (and can thus no longer get a refund).

"on line" was the worst thing to happen to PC gaming.

And because these companies are no longer confined to local markets they no longer care about pissing off sections of their customer pool as there are plenty more marks with wallets in the world.

Yeah, I am getting old but also some of this modern crap sucks.

AI is great, just saw a series called better than us, they talked about bringing in the early retirement program so people could enjoy more of their lives. I dislike the reality where we will be told to retrain and that we are lazy and need to reskill or die as the AI force more and more of us to become redundant.

I love the AI, though I would have liked to keep the dystopic element out of my reality and locked in games like cyberpunk

As far as AI goes ..... Some of us that are older remember the same things being said about computers in the early 80's and then about the Internet in the early 90's ..... Basically Computers and the Internet were going to replace us and cause us all to lose our jobs ..... But in reality jobs simply changed and both Computers and the Internet created many more jobs than were destroyed .....

On a side note, I can relate to the issue, people nowadays just stare at their phones and are to dumb to find their way without google maps, but that is just the way it is.
I grew up in a time, where there was on room at school for computers and students used it mostly to download 'videos' while the download speed was somewhat about 56k.
The only reason I switched to a kindle was that books take so much space, but I still write with a pen more often than digital, and I use my phone mostly for music, not instead of my brain.

High tech and low life is one part of cyberpunk, though dystopia we already achieved.

Do you know the true meaning behind Cyberpunk? If you know the true meaning behind Cyberpunk, then you would understand topics like this. Cyberpunk (i'm not only talking about 2077, but also Altered Carbon, Blade Runner, Ghost in the Shell any many other works) show us the dark side of the coin. Many issue's in a Cyberpunk world are already related to our own world.

Corporate authoritarianism, kleptocracy, environmental pollution, political polarization, manipulation through technology, danger of centralization, kakistocracy, rise of inequality, transhumanism, the have and have nots, privacy issue's, technology addiction and many other dangers technology can cause. And above all, losing our own humanity to technology.

Haven't you seen the news? Killer drones, self driving cars, rise of AI, private military companies, hell even Google invested in a medicine to slow down aging. Google, a tech-company, who is going to decide who is going to live longer if the medicine will succeed. Elon Musk with Neuralink which can create dangers possibilites.

I'm not against technology, I even like technology but i'm in favor for regulating technology. There where even 500.000 pacemakers called back in America, because they where easily hackable. Someone with a blu-tooth device, could easily control your freaking organic heart.

What about the daily cyber attacks on infrastructures and companies. Freelance hackers, privacy issue's that we are facing, centralization of all your information. You can already say that we might already live in a Cyberpunk world.

So yeah, topics like these do have something in common with the game Cyberpunk 2077. I'm not saying that we will have exactly the same world as in Cyberpunk 2077, but there are a lot similarities with our own world. Ghost in the Shell 1995 movie has never been so relevant. The frighting things the movie showed us, are now becoming real.

Solarpunk is by the way the opposite of Cyberpunk. A more optimistic view on technology.

Suffice to say my real life views are close to a character like Johnny Silverhand.

Frankly I made that post to get a cheap laugh and it worked, but more seriously, the original post reads more like a 14 year old who is trying to act like a 50 year old man rather than someone with a serious point, hence my reply.

Ah, thanks for explaining.

I do have the same personality as Johnny Silverhand aswell, but in a milder way. I want restrictions and regulations not getting rid of it entirely.
