Failed to start game error (missing executable steam)

I can't seem to start the game - when i start it, this error occurs. It says "Failed to start game, (missing executable)".


I found this site: http://play.thewitcher.com/, with an .exe claiming that it needs to be downloaded in order to start the game. Is this legit? I don't want to download a random .exe.

This happened to me too. Send the steam verify the integrity of all files. After that it will open and download the update normally.

Does not work, i sent the verfiy but the same error occurs!

EDIT: I also tried to reinstall the game, which took 6hrs to re-download on my student net. Didn't work.
