Fake papers - how to not fail this quest?

I'm an OCD completionist so I can't handle a single failed quest.

For the quest "fake papers" you are supposed to help someone's brother in law fight off some ghouls. I have no problem killing the ghouls but the guy always ends up dead.

Any tips for how to complete this quest without failure?

Stay close to the guy. ther is one enemy that flanks from the left some times and it kills the guy.

You can try the above mentioned approach.

Personally, I always preferred to intercept all incoming enemies a bit closer to the forested area. You have to make sure however to not let anything slip by you. This way, the silly leader doesn't even get the idea to "help" you fight.
