Fall Damage...

Anyone thinks fall damage for Geralt is way too much?

I`ve seen people fall, or even do parkour jumps from higher places than Geralt without a scratch, even those who fell were just in pain but nothing else, where Geralt loses half his life if not more or straight out dies from a few meters of height... This really bothers me, not only cause i have to chug a potion everytime, but it takes me out of the character. Geralt is a near superhuman, this fall damage or even fall deaths are almost a plot hole.

You can press the jump button again, to do a roll. This roll does remove a lot of the falling damage ;)

Yeah... Falling damage is really annoying and ridiculous. Sometimes you have to jump high distances, like in a cave, and it is hard to avoid. It also does not make sense to get such a large amount of falling damage for falling such small distances. Remember that jump in the witcher 1 initial cutscene? If Geralt did that in this game, he would die instantly :p

Just hit the jump button again right when you touch the ground, and you'll do a roll. This mitigates a lot of the falling damage, but that still doesn't make you can jump from extremely high places and live. :p

This... double tap space will almost completely remove damage... unless you're into base jumping :p

The point is not how to prevent damage. Is that super humans are reciving damage and potentially dying from jumps i can take.

this has been bothering allot also just for the fact that he is a witcher with super speed and strength with decades and decades of combat training and athletic as a trained warrior can be but a small 6 foot drop kills you, it's retarded really

It is SO annoying the fall damage.
Seriously, why does my Quen not protect me from fall damage? They could at least have done that !! That way you would be able to Quen up and jump down somewhere. Would bee a good idea for an upcoming patch.

Superhumans? Superspeed? This is not Marvel, did you know that? Witchers are regular humans, the only "superhuman" ability they have is to take deadly potions and not die.

EDIT: well, and signs, but in a world full of such powerful magic and mages, signs seem just like harry potters' magic.

No, lore clearly states witcher's have dramatically increased strength, speed, reflexes, senses and endurance, far beyond what any normal or well-trained human posseses in addition to accelerated healing and extremely long lifespans, again, far surpassing a normal human's, i.e. the have superhuman abilities

In fact the glossary entries even specifically use the word "superhuman"

I can totally relate. I'm currently working on a mod for it, but I haven't located the files yet that indicates the damage dealt by environment. If anyone has more info on it, I'd be happy to hear it.

Sums it up pretty decent =)

Other solution would be to add a small stop motion for Geralt when he nears a ledge, so like in some other games he leans over and doesn't just happily stumble to death.
These things happen way to often:

  • Dodge to death
  • Run - Stop one step to late
  • Ciri charge to death
  • Roach pushes me off a bridge

I hear ya and I think it's an overlook part from CDPR devs. Doubt they will change this though so the next hope comes from modders to mod this...
