Fatalities

OK,

So we have a non-lethal thread.

Now we have a fatalities thread

What kind of fatalities would you like to see in the game?

I don't want anything like "Mortal Kombat" or otherwise video game-y.

I'd like to see ragdoll physics, as long as they make sense. The dead weight (no pun intended) should behave as such.

Knife in the neck, head shots, neck snapping. Brutal and swift, doesn't have to be gory just effective.

The backstab in Dark Souls would be good for a fatality in this game. Skyrim had the neck slicing. Breaking someones neck or gutting them is also quick and effective.

I think I'd like to see realistic combat in this game. I want these fatalities to be in the middle of the fight or upon sneaking up to someone. I do not want to see someone standing still as you finish them off like in Mortal Kombat.

I think I'd prefer to have these be more like a one-shot that the character could do. More powerful enemies with cybernetics would probably have less of these options. I don't want to feel overpowered so perhaps these one-shots would be hard to accomplish.

Something quick and simple like neck-snapping in Bloodlines would be nice.

Yes to fatalities. A big no to slow motion or any other way of presenting it that would make dudebros go "oooooooh dayum." Little things like simple fatalities are a nice effect when they're just another part of the world, but having that kind of stuff put on display like the slow-motion head shots in Fallout 3 is dumb as hell.

Ahh, a good chance to make my own fatalities. I don't want anything too over the top, but I wanna be brutal! :D Breaking a neck isn't all that easy, they make it look like just a flick of the wrist in the movies. Granted if you have some cyborg arms then it should be easy to punch a hole into someone's skull as well as break the neck. I want gritty brutal moves, kind of like in The Last of Us.

Fatality 1: Left shin to the head which dazes, followed by right shin to the head which makes them stumble to the side, if they go down then knee right knee into the face until their face is nothing but a bloody mess.

Fatality 2: Both thumbs pressed into eyes and the back of their head smashed into either a wall or the floor, either one will do the job.

Fatality 3: Head butt to the nose followed straight up by a bite to the neck, spit out the flesh and dig your fingers into the wound, try opening it up to make them bleed faster.

Fatality 4: Fist to the neck, grab their head and bring it low enough to send your knee into their nose or mouth, either breaking their nose or their teeth, at the very least loosening a few. If needed, send your knee into their face again until they go down, and then stomp on their head until they're completely still.

Fatality 5: From behind, slam your knife in just above their collar bone and bring the knife across just to make sure they stay dead.

Fatality 6: When down or crouched in front of an enemy, slam your knife into their knee or thigh, send your fist into their balls or gut if they don't have any, and tackle them down to the ground and beat their face in until fully satisfied.

Fatality 7: From the side, slip your knife in where their rib cage ends, pull the blade out and step around so you're facing them, and slip your blade straight into their throat.

Fatality 8: Start off facing them, and slash horizontally towards their eyes using a reverse knife grip. Without hesitation, grab the back of their head, pull them close and send that knife down into their shoulder, collar bone, anywhere you can get to until they go down. Not elegant but it'll kill.

Also monomolecular wire kills like in Johnny Mnemonic (of which I can't find any good gifs or videos) can be done: see Metal Gear Rising (for body slicing, the pic I posted looks more like RE4).

I want some dynamic kills when Black ICE fries some poor netrunner's links, something like blood pouring from the eyes and nose before convulsing in a pool of his own sick and waste.

But also I'd like to see a few simple disconnects, die on the net and your body just stops and slumps over.

A big no thanks to death animations, once or twice is fun but after a while it 's just getting in the way of getting on with the game.

I hadn't realised just how many ways there are to die in Cyberpunk...

We haven't even touched in explosives, impailment, toxins or vehicular impacts.

I'm going to have to categorise a few things here:

Projectiles -
Probably the most common way to go is to be shot. Obviously different projectiles and calibres affect targets differently, but as much as I would like to see a REALLY in depth and varied plethora of ballistic trauma impacts I don't want CDPR to waste their time and money.

So, I'll be happy with a few headshots and being able to tell the difference between handgun, rifle and big bore impacts. If they can pull off decent ragdoll physics then even better.

Melee/Martial Arts -
A few 'street' style takedowns for the untrained and a couple for each martial arts styles would be greats, plus alternative 'lethal' versions.

I also want the option of using, (or abusing,) the surrounding environment. Walls, wires, glass and more. Driving someone's face through a wall or garroting them with dangling electrical cables -or electrocuting them! - would be great.

There's jsut so many...

Cyberfeedback when your damaged arm/leg catches a stray bullet. You know, something that gives that barbeque smell.

Yeah... see, I don't need any of this in a game. If this is how you get down, more power to ya, but I don't need the execution porn.

All I need is for NPCs to fall down in a believable manner. Give me good, believable ragdoll physics, and I'm happy. If a downed, but wounded NPC draws a weapon to keep shooting at me, before they bleed out, all the better.

Gets boring after awhile. I like some variation and, yes, I admit to having enjoyed watching Mortal Kombat fatalities. Also Deus Ex Human Revolution finishers.

So I'd enjoy these, if they were either choice- activated or sufficiently random to keep me guessing. "Ooh! That looked painful!"

I'd like a lot of variation, or maybe some that are contextual? What I mean by that is if the game reads there is a wall nearby when performing a finisher then you can use that against your enemy during the finisher. Deus Ex's finishers were great, I just wished there was more of them because I used the finishers a lot, I ended up seeing a lot of the same finishers repeated. That being said there was a good selection of them.

really don't require finishers at all. it's enough that each melee weapon have their own animation... having a seperate animation for finishers just seems overkill.

TW3 will be using individually animated combos, and there was variation in th 'finishers'.

I would like a little bit of 'execution porn'.
