Favorite Character memories (game doesnt matter)

Ive made som dozies over the decades of playing AD&D but my all time favorites are:Kalfear. Originally a Elf in C&S game. When we switched him over to AD&D he became a Cleric/Mage/fighter and was used a a long term nemisist on campaigns (original Kalfear was Lawful Evil). His crowning glory was dropping 10 pitch balls (Time release fireball items) into a paladins backpack with out the paladin realizing it!DM told us, you all see "paladin" riding over the hill into the sunset and BOOM! the end. (Did I mention I hate paladins)Cameron KalfearChaotic Good Cleric son of Kalfear, Hes memorable because we were doing a adventure and DM gave me a helm of brilliance!Well I got hit by a fire ball and failed saving throwThen I failed second saving throw Then I failed a 1 in 100 chance of helm explodingDMs last words were "and the helm exploded killing them all"Foreven more Jeff would bring a headless cleric into our adventures from time to time.BUT, my all time favorite AD&D character wasGrud BludgonbeaterChaotic Good 1/2 orc warrior that had a charisma of 3 and all he wanted from life was for people to like him.he collect shiny items over what he called ugly trinkets and regularly passed up magical treasure for a shinny none magical sword when lootingHe also wanted to be civilized, so he carried with him a hammak and 2 feather pillows for sleepingWhen approached by bullies and generally mean NPCs, he would ask what hes done to offend and try to make nice with them and befreind them. To appease my DM I accepted that he would defend himself however but if he hurt anyone (human/orc/gnome/intellegent type being, not monsters) he would then pout wondering why everyone always wants to fight him!In EQ, I was really bored one day so I rolled up Grud as a Troll Shaman and I was sitting at the zone in to the swamp when a player with a flaming sword came up to me and unannounced went AFK. For the next 5 minutes (with no replies from player) I proceeded to tell him how dangerous his flaming sword was cause he might burn himself and how Id gladly take it to troll city and have the fire put out for him so he didnt hurt himself, ect ect ect.LOL, guy comes back from AFK and messages me saying he spit coke all over his keyboard he was laughing so hard reading my Role Play with him about sword!Anyways, those my favorite character memories from role playing games.

One of the reasons why I like The Witcher so much is because the player character has such a definite personality. I've had a lot of fun playing past RPG's, but MY characters in those always felt like ciphers compared to the NPC's. The flip side of giving the player infinite customization options is that the developer can't give the player character much personality, since they could be anything. So my favorite character memories of previous games are all NPC's, rather than player characters.I loved Minsc in Baldur's Gate 2. I think part of it was that he was voice acted much better than the other NPC's were, but part of it was good writing -- there's something endearing about a big bruiser with a pet hamster. Oh, sorry, I mean a miniature giant space hamster, of course. :) He also didn't give me any lip; his "You point, I punch" was refreshing. And when we'd been comrades in arms for awhile, he got to like me enough to suggest that perhaps we could get a hamster for me, too. Awwww. :)I really liked Alistair in DA:O. I played a female character, so the player character and Alistair fell in love. The first time I played DA:O, Alistair was the one to kill the archdemon. The second time, I married him off to the queen, and it was a real wrench to walk down the stairs and leave him behind with her. The second time I played, I was actually planning to have a romance with Zevraan instead of Alistair, but I just couldn't give Alistair up. If only the player character had been as well realized as Alistair was, I'd have had a lot more attachment to the game, though the constant slogging through the same half-dozen darkspawn would never have thrilled me.

I was also positively surprised by Alistair. I expected a BioWare-style whiner like Carth Onasi or Kaiden Alenko.

gotta admit, when I first met Alistar, I was thinking Carth/Kaiden as wellmuch deeper (though Carth and Kaiden were well developed) then the other two.DA:O was a great game all told though, all the characters were well developed and interesting (well not Zervan so much, but the other ones).

Well Sherman lets hit the way back machine and go back to the year of 1997 to 2002 Blood Omen 2 the legion of Kain Series. No matter how evil and how he wanted to total control of the world Saw a side to him that I understood why he was the way he is.When someone he cared about betrayed him and let die he was alone and saw how deeply it hurt him.
