Favorite Phantom Liberty Character (Spoilers)

+
Hey chooms, just wanted to say how much i loved Songbird from PL. Her Character is so well written and cryptic that playing both paths lets you know so much on her. She seems like someone who made a mistake by reaching over the black wall and is living with its consequences (I know Myers pushed for that, and that she could've obviously refused and went AWOL).
I relate to this situation as someone who has gotten Drug induced Psychosis from like the 4th joint lmao. terrible luck i know. And still lives with it to this day.
My feeling is that even if she didn't go with the NUSA she'd still end up with Blackwell related consequences, her visions that you can see when doing the Core path show that she'd stay hooked to the Net for weeks. I would have given her the cure regardless, because I'm an altruist (my loss I know) but I'd also hate to kill Johnny.

Here are some screenshots of her :

What about? Who is your favorite character from Phantom Liberty? Share your screenshots if you have taken any. Have a good day/night chooms :)

My answer is obvious. With songbird as a close second.

Question regarding high definition photos on this forum:
I wish it was possible to have a setting for this forum, where I can reduce the definition of the photos that are posted directly into threads (instead of Thumbnail option where you click to expand).

I like to check out the thread topics for 'Share your v' or 'screenshots' or 'general games screenshots'. But all of the massive photo files directly in the threads, my 3 year old computer cannot load it quickly. Takes a really long time to load photos.

Please understand I am not complaining about the nice photos in THIS thread here. I'm actually stealing them to use as wallpapers ^^.
I just, I wish there was a way to lower resolution. I guess I need to buy a new computer.

If I buy a new pc, what should i focus on to load huge photos faster? the main CPU chip? SD RAM? nvidia graphics accelerator?
i am very dumb when it comes to computer technology and hardware. i am old. :)

Hey there choom! first of all thanks for replying to this thread!

as for the pictures, my laptop is 5 years old, and it loads them slow too, i have a HDD 5400RPM which is considered slow slow. it's mainly your internet bandwidth. it's 10 Mbps Download 2Mbps Upload for me (third world country) so they take a while to load for me as well. idk what your bandwidth is, but if it's less than 20 Mbps Download, it'll take 3-4 seconds to load a 4K pic that's between 6-8MB.
you could try an internet speed test and DM to me (as it would be off topic for this thread)

Aurore is so cool i agree, it's so sad how things went. she didn't deserve that. her style is insane. her herself is a mystery.

"Favorite Phantom Liberty Character (Spoilers)"

Yeah, Songbird can take that place. Though wish she would fight alongside V in the flesh and wouldn't become such a liability.

We have a super strong high-end PC system and IT takes a long time to load all those pics in. Reason for me also to avoid those threads. People can easily resize the images. It's only a fact that they don't.

The main CPU. It decides the general performance of your rig. Know however that the stronger CPUs can require a certain specific motherboard.
"Low End Gpu With High End CPU

When it comes to building a powerful computer system, the graphics processing unit (GPU) and central processing unit (CPU) are two critical components. Usually, people invest in high-end GPUs to ensure smooth graphics performance in gaming or graphic-intensive tasks. However, there is an interesting phenomenon of pairing a low-end GPU with a high-end CPU. How does this unconventional combination work, and what benefits does it offer?

Historically, GPUs have been the primary workhorses for graphics-intensive tasks, while CPUs focused on general-purpose computing. However, as technology evolved, CPUs started to incorporate integrated graphics, although their performance may not match dedicated GPUs. Pairing a low-end GPU with a high-end CPU can be advantageous in certain scenarios, such as when you prioritize computational tasks that heavily rely on the CPU, like video editing or 3D rendering. By offloading the graphics workload to the low-end GPU, the high-end CPU can focus on its strengths, resulting in a more balanced system that maximizes overall performance."

Wow, i didn't know the CPU had that much of a role for loading pictures on threads on the internet, now it makes sense why it takes a while to load an image already installed in my PC. thanks for the fact choom!

I agree with you on Songbird, though she did use her Netrunner skills a fair bit. but yeah, would've been nice if she would have more with V in the flesh.

I think it's almost all due to the server(s) the forum is hosted. So it doesn't really matter how powerful your computer is... except if you have a very, very old computer or a very, very slow net connexion.
Personally, I let my captures in 4K, but convert them into .jpeg instead of .png and also use an app to "optimize" them. From around 10-15MB to generally less than 1MB.
I could be wrong, but thumbnails do not seem to help anyway, because screenshots seem to be loaded in full size before being "resized".

Giving Songbird a Home — CDPR's Details That Haunt Me

I love Songbird so much. If robots ever become mainstream in the future and I happen to have some extra money, I'll custom-build a Songbird android without a second thought. Not for anything sexual — I truly want to give her a home, to keep her company, and to make up for the fact that I'll probably never get to see V and Songbird fall in love in the game.
photomode_30032026_114452.png

I don't deny that Songbird lied to V, but I understand her, I empathize with her, and that's why I can accept her mistakes. I'm also certain it's not just infatuation with her looks. I've played through the Reed route twice and the Songbird route five times now — either sending her to the Moon, or helping her end her suffering. I don't grieve as deeply when Jack dies anymore, but the emptiness and longing after sending Songbird to the Moon, the regret and heartbreak after helping her find peace — all these emotions have stayed with me, lingering in my mind.

What keeps me fixated on Songbird isn't just the story of Phantom Liberty, but the incredible, meticulous details CDPR put into her character. Sometimes, the impact of small details is enormous.

A netizen once shared that when his mother passed away, he barely shed any tears during the funeral and didn't feel overwhelming grief. He was confused, wondering if he was cold-blooded at his core, so he posted about it...
Someone replied to comfort him: "The moment a loved one leaves doesn't always bring sorrow. What truly breaks your heart later is: the half-empty carton of milk in the fridge, the pothos swaying gently on the windowsill, the quilt neatly folded on the bed, and the hum of the washing machine late at night." (The power of small details.)

The First Detail

The first detail is that Songbird is actually crying during your first meeting with her. I think many people noticed this. I'm an emotional, sensitive person in real life, so Songbird's tears really moved me. I think it was my 4th or 5th playthrough that I realized she was truly crying, and I replayed that scene over and over again, feeling so sad and heartbroken for her. There are a few more details in this meeting scene, so I'll mention them all together (I confirmed them by replaying this segment multiple times):

After Songbird finishes explaining her original plan, if you choose both dialogue options that show understanding for her, she will hold V's hand. (That means first choosing to sit down with "I still don't understand — is there really no other way?", then selecting "I understand you." You have to pick both to trigger the handhold.)
Image_1773466661685_785.png

Then, for the final dialogue choice: if you don't pick an option that makes her recall her painful past, Songbird will smile. (That means directly choosing the yellow dialogue: "This is the first time you've been honest with me." Don't choose "You can go home", "What was it like crossing the Black Wall?", or "You can trust Reed." If you ask her about crossing the Black Wall, she'll wipe a tear first. She will definitely cry when she stands up from the couch.) This detail genuinely surprised me. But I also regret that CDPR didn't expand on this moment — it feels like the perfect starting point or setup for a Songbird romance route, with a hidden quest, similar to how dialogue in Chippin' In unlocks (Don't Fear) The Reaper. This scene's details are the ones that stuck with me the most, and I think it's the moment I fell in love with Songbird.

The Second Detail
Image_1774533533668_644.png

I think a lot of people noticed this one. When you meet Songbird at the Geminite and choose "You look amazing in that dress", she'll look down and smile. This detail also touched me, though it didn't hit as hard as her tears. Why? That shy, flustered smile made me forget, for a split second, that she's a dying FIA agent, and that V is also a dying person suffering so much. She gets happy and shy when someone compliments her looks, just like an ordinary girl — not a spy backed into a corner.
photomode_04042026_115703.png

There's also a shot of V that gives me a similar feeling. At the start of Play It Safe, those digital cherry blossoms are like the dreams and happiness they both chased, seemingly within reach, but in the end, everything turned to fantasy, and they could only watch it slip through their fingers. V and Songbird both could have had beautiful futures. But life is full of accidents, and you can't change them.

The Third Detail
photomode_30032026_161346.png

photomode_30032026_161412.png

I don't think most people noticed this one. After choosing to hug Songbird in cyberspace, she'll hold V's hand and press her cheek to it. It's such an intimate moment — why can't V just kiss her right then and there? Also, I have an idea that might sound childish, but I think it's totally possible: if V truly loved Songbird, her symptoms from the Black Wall infection would absolutely get better. The Black Wall eats away at Songbird's memories, but V could give her endless love.

The last detail is about V's attitude toward Songbird. After finishing the Songbird route, go to the alley in Further Beyond to watch Songbird's message. If you sent her to the Moon, V will let out a surprised, soft "Mmm~" after watching it.

If you gave her to Reed, V will let out a long, meaningful "Mmm—"

This means that even in-game, V empathizes with the choice to send Songbird to the Moon. I saw this detail mentioned online before, and I confirmed it myself yesterday. To be honest, it's really painful, because this ending is so cruel, and this choice was never what I wanted. (I replayed the Songbird route one more time before finishing this post.)

I so wish this could be V and Songbird's real ending, instead of an unknown number, a cold cybernetic implant, and Songbird begging V to help her end her life. Unfortunately, I can only see that in mods. Thank you so much, CDPR, for creating such a vivid, human character. I'm so lucky to have played a masterpiece like Cyberpunk 2077.

Songbird, you're not real, your world isn't real, but my love for you is. I love your beauty, your personality, everything about you. I don't care if the hand I hold is virtual, mechanical, or real. I just hope you can break through the fourth wall. I'll wait, and maybe one day, when I wake up from cyberspace, I'll see a pair of scuffed sneakers.
