Books? It's odd with all my attachment to Ciri, Geralt and Yennefer one of my favourite characters was actually Maria Barring or Milva if you prefer.
Games? Zoltan! :D That guy is brilliant!

wife loves Yen, my kid likes Milva and Percival
Mine are Regis and Yen

In the books: Emiel Regis. The only vampire I really like. In the game? Huh, it could be Eredin, but his f***ing 12 or 15 oneliners are deleting him from this place. So - Iorveth. In Witcher 3... Maybe Philippa. It's hard to say.

Zoltan's crew is definitely my favorite, including Percival and Field Marshal Duda. Cahir Mawr Dyffryn aep Ceallach was a very interesting character in the books that grew on me as the series progressed. Cameo wise, Reynart de Bois-Fresnes would be my top pick

How am I suppose to nail it down to 1-2 characters? I could probably list 30 characters, I like or I think are extremely interesting, sigh..

Well, nailing it down to one favourite character and several other interesting ones.

Favourite one in the books:
If I don't say Yennefer now, people would just call me a liar :) but it's rather the combination of all three, which is my favourite: Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri. If I think of one of them, the other two pop up.

other characters I really liked in the books:
Philippa
Dandelion
Fringilla
Bonhart
Yarpen
Regis
Essi
Coral
Angouleme and Milva
Triss
Cahir
Emhyr and Dijkstra

In general I really liked Geralt, even though he is an idiot sometimes.

Favourite one in the games:
Philippa, although she is already present in the books, but how can you not like her with sentences like:

other mainly game characters I really liked:
Shani
Iris of Everec
Letho
Zoltan
Gaunter O'Dimm
Priscilla
Iorveth
Keira Metz
Kalkstein
Odrin & Grandma

conclusion:
I should really replay Witcher 1, forgot so many names again.

Kinda strange, I liked Dandelion, Triss, Emhyr and Dijkstra as characters much more in the books than in the games.

Yarpen in the books, but Zoltan in the games.

Shani was a much more interesting character in the games than the books, HoS also did a lot for that. I wonder if Fringilla gets the same treatment.

Priscilla is pretty much Essi in the games.

I still have a thing for sorceresses, no matter what :D

Philippa is just great.

I still have problems recognizing Ciri from the books in the game.

While Yennefer in the game isn't perfect, they were quite close to it.

Geralt is still an idiot sometimes :)

Geralt is out from this list for me obviously. The White Wolf is The White Wolf!

But, if Regis became my favourite one, there's another who stole my heart and broke it at the end, as the most anonymous of the best characters:

Deviating slightly, here are my favorite "versions" of some of the characters:

Geralt- Witcher 3- got more of his swagger back compared to other games, not quite as moody as the books

Ciri- Blood of Elves- she was a great kid, got worse with age: "What are you wearing on your face?" "Greater self esteem!"

Yennefer- Time of Contempt- teaching Ciri

Triss- Witcher 1- in the first game she is the most confident and complicated

Dandelion- Baptism of Fire- so much good stuff from his character there

Zoltan- Witcher 2- especially chapter 2

Philippa- Time of Contempt- Philippa on Thanedd is fantastic

Dijkstra- Books- whenever he writes letters to Philippa
