I think the fact that there is so much diversity here is a great indicator of how good the book was. My favourite character, I'm not afraid to say, was Ciri. Most "children of destiny" characters in fantasy books (see Rand in WoT; Garion in Belgradia) spend at least half the time feeling very sorry for themselves. Apart from being annoying little do-gooders they also undergo a seamless transition from "village cretin" to "godlike". Not so with Zireael.I also liked Angolume, I think a brothel in Toussaint would have been an excellent enterprise.

Yeah, he was able to slice every human or unhuman opponent in his reach, but there was no way in hell he could defeat kingdoms and empires. That was the new players in the game, and he was a way out of his league. As I have seen this, he was preparing himself to die in some doomed attempt to avert the destiny. Because he was unable to just give up. And then, he figured out a way...And the Geralt from the beginning of the fifth book was my favorite Geralt, playing in Toussaint just the simple, naive witcher, killing monsters and gathering the fortune...Darth39Mael said:
