Feedback: Build Favoritism [Some Mid-game Spoilers]

+
The trick was sneaking around and taking every enemy out with a silenced headshot from my revolver. Those were certain one-hit-kills, so as long as I was on-target, the enemy I engage doesn't get a chance to detect me. If there's a cluster of enemies together, I kicked in Sandevistan before I started shooting, so that I had time to headshot/kill the whole pack of bad guys before the first one's brains had finished decorating the floor. They didn't get the chance to detect me.

Sure, they were in "alert" status, because a few dead bodies were found but they never went all the way to "detected" status. In fact I used dead bodies to draw-in more victims a couple of times. "Oh my god, what's happened to Fred? There must be a sniper nearb-"
Off-topic: Excellent :D

Stealth is sometimes required because many build can do it.
They can't really require "You must kill everyone violently" :)

Well... That depends what you'd flag as violently ;)
I've popped many head, or shot half a torso away from my victims.
Also (while it may not count technically) with the Fenrir I have set many on fire also.
Seems quite violent to me :)

Does anyone else feel that unlike a game like the Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 really punishes builds that aren't Intelligence based? My favorite build has been an Unarmed Brute Streetkid and it really feels like all the Fixers and friends in quests just really look down on me. I was playing through Panam's quest where we're rescuing Saul, and I murderized absolutely EVERYTHING. But when I get to Saul, there's no comment about how I freaking solo'd an entire battalion of Raffen Shiv, and instead I'm an asshole that got us followed. WTF? There's a lot of other examples like that but I'm trying to keep this short and honestly I'm just plain tired and angry. This is something that is way too common through the game and what I find fun is basically being shit on by the game I'm playing. Does anyone else find this wrong and kinda hurtful?

I should also mention that Cool (Stealth) is absolutely not Stealth within the game. The stealthiest character is absolutely a hacker by far.

EDIT: I basically feel that if the game credits one style of play it should credit others as well via congratulatory comments, OR it should bill itself entirely as a different sort of game, like a stealth shooter

I am not intending that this be anything other than a feedback thread, and have no desire to just malign or spit on the game / developers. Overall I really like Cyberpunk 2077. But there are areas where I feel it could be better, and some of those areas deserve to be addressed.
There are certain gigs that you are asked to do more stealthily. What that means in practice seems to vary by the gig but it can be actually don't get detected, or don't *kill* people. It's usually clear from the description.

I play a mix of styles but as long as I pay attention to the mission brief and eg remember not to blast people's brains up the wall I don't get told off too much for going in all guns blazing.

Strongly disagree. My current build is a warrior/weaponsmith; I've put all my points into body and tech, absolutely nothing into intelligence or cool. There are a lot of terminals I can't hack because I don't have the intelligence, but there's always another way around. I don't feel this build is disadvantaged at all -- I'm having a lot of fun with him.

Yes, but, actually, with my current build, where I have put no points at all into cool or stealth (although I do have the 'Soft Sole' clothing modifier that allows you to move silently), I've cleaned several stealth quests without being detected. I don't think the stealth perks actually give you much, in practice; my previous build was a stealth/nethacker specialist, and she didn't do nearly as well on stealth gigs as my current warrior/weaponsmith, I think because I wasn't yet sufficiently familiar with how stealth works in the game.

Drifting off-topic I suppose, but for a couple of gigs where I was asked not to kill, I intentionally disobeyed those orders and had fun disobeying them

I've had a hacker + shooter on Normal, then a full melee weapons with throwing knives build build with basic hacks on Hard (much fun) and now I'm full blown stealthy hacker with a silenced pistol on Very Hard.

My thoughts are melee and hacking are the most effective ways. I don't think the game punishes any builds, except for generic 'jack of all trades' kinda build, you just won't be effective at anything, as best perks come with more points invested in a specific skilltree.

I find it amusing when I blow my stealth, make a mess killing everybody during gigs that don't require that and the fixer says "preem work, V". That's just funny :)

As a stealth action fan, I like the stealth in this game, they took their time to make it possible to completely ghost some gigs, which feels satisfying. Although, some minor things do interfere with it.
