Few questions about crafting and leveling

Hi guys, I'm new here. I'm really enjoying the game, but I found some things confusing.

This is the blacksmith creation screen, well.
Just want to know why on the right side of the screen there are some ingredients that are not involved in the item to create?

Similar to first question. Alchemy meditation screen. On the right side, there are some ingredients with some strange symbols, like the one that I red circled. What are these symbols, and why same symbol is on the creation part but with another ingredient?

Third: If I mutate a skill, the new enhancements are added to original skills, or overwrites it?

It has no real use, just showing what the craftsman has. Ignore it.

You can change the ingredient in the potion for another one with the same symbol. It's worth checking, and swapping, because the game often picks a valuable or rare ingredient when a cheaper one can be used.

No, it makes no difference to the potion.

The important thing is to avoid using high-value or rare ingredients if a cheaper one exists. Unfortunately, the game often picks the high-value or rare one, so you should always check.
