Finally got W3 (DLing), what should I know?

I was waiting for all of the bigs and what not to die down. Just bought it, and it is downloading (25%). I have never played a Witcher game before, and I am really excited.

Any tips? Things that will help me learn or enjoy the game more? Anything I should be aware of?

If it's your first game Quen is your best friend. Also learn to dodge so you don't have to rely on Quen so much.

Stay away from all forums to avoid spoilers and cancel any future plans.

Also, be prepared to read A LOT. Read quest and character summaries to know everything.

Is gold important in this game? What about armor? Are there a lot of upgrades? Or is it more like Dark Souls, where armor doesnt matter so much?

Equipment matters a great deal. Especially swords.

Loot everything but also don't be afraid to sell MOST things, if you are pretty sure you can get another of whatever that thing is, go ahead and sell it if you need space or money.

Also don't wander into an area that looks like it might be quest related until you have said quest, you can actually spoil quests that way. That doesn't mean avoid every ruin and cave, just things that look very unique and are "prominent landmarks".

Finally, go with whatever build you want, but putting 3 points in Axii helps you solve a lot of "conversation" dilemmas later on.

Just go to bin\config\base\gameplay.ini. Open the ini and look for this lines:

MotionSicknessFocusMode=false

now set it to

MotionSicknessFocusMode=true

No more headache while using witcher senses.

@NarutovsWitcher
Check out these videos. They're the best summary of main plot points from all the books and both previous games without spoiling too much about anything either. Short but in-depth.
