Fix for "The Witcher 2 Launcher has stopped working" (MSVCR100.dll error)
Some windows update around the 23rd of July, 2012, appears to have borked either the .NET framework or the VC++ redistributable and Witcher 2 might be failing to launch with this kind of a message:
A temporary fix that works for many is:
0. Put Steam in Offline mode (skip this step if you have the GoG version.)
1. Disable all network connections/interfaces (Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections)
2. Play the game. It should work now.
Some people appear to get "key errors" on Steam when they try this, to which there is no solution at present. (You could try running Steam online, validating the cache, then following steps 0 to 2 above.)
To stop the first time setup from running every time, navigate to \Steam\steamapps\common\witcher 2\ and rename redist to something else (redist_OLD).
This should tide us over until CDPRed fixes it.
