Could try a SFC scannow . To do this click start>all programs>accessories . Locate and right click the command prompt and select run as administrator . When the command prompt box opens type or copy and paste this in the box
sfc /scannow NOTE : there is a space between the sfc and the slash . Then press enter . This takes approx 10-15 minutes .

I ran into the problem of the game not running (Not Steam), I checked some of the above issues, it seems that once I updated to 2.1, I had to have an internet connection to launch the game. While online I can play but thats not a good fix as my net is... troublesome at times.

Go to your witcher 2/bin folder then locate and right click the witcher2exe and send to desktop . Then start the game from the new shortcut you just made no internet required .

First know that i normally don`t do these type of workarounds but i see a boatload of people who use steam and have one of the above mentioned errors . What i have in mind is a way for Steam users to revert to 2.0 and effectively be able to play the game without disabling , uninstalling or renaming files . Know however that it would break all ties with Steam...no auto updates , no steam overlay , and no achievements . I`m still mulling this over as to what to include in the write up . What`s really need here is a way to uninstall the 2.1 patch for everyone .

so, while there is no way to uninstall just the 2.1 patch that i know of, there IS a way to stop Steam from applying it in the first place. go to your library of games and right click on the game in question, in this case Witcher 2. a context menu will pop-up with various options, the last one of which is properties. click on properties, and a new window appears.the 2nd tab of this window is titled updates. this is where you can tell Steam to not automaticslly update any game. i suppose it might be possible to fully uninstall the Witcher 2 game, and then reinstall it, and before 2.1 is added, set it to not auto update, but as i do not have the steam version i will leave that to you to find out.
hope this helps someone out there :)

I believe go to Program Files or Program Files(X86) if 64 bit and find the searchqu folder then open it and look for an uninstall exe and that should do it .

Hey, I got the same Problems here I think. After 2.1/Enhanced there is the indefinite wolfshead without an error and I tried pretty much everything. Game/patch/driver/net4.0/directx newly installed etc. I have Windows XP sp2, I bought the steamfree Witcher 2 version in some shop and here's my installed software: http://imgur.com/a/vOfsy#0

Hope someone can help.

Upgrading to sp3 helped some people back when 2.1 was released. It's part of the Net4.0 requirements.

Wait for someone to confirm it though

Agreed as SP3 made a lot of improvements and fixes . Not sure about the .NET4.0 issue though .
