So I'm having probs with the EE patch updater installer. It freezes, quits working halfway through the update. I did have previous probs before with my game on the last update but found a toolbar that was keeping me from accessing my game, fixed that and played WT2 without any further probs. Now I have a new one whit this new patch. My frustration point is um lol, anyways why is it freezing, halfway through, i even uninstalled n reinstalled the whole game and still having the same prob
If you`re running anywhere close to minimum specs it may appear to be frozen when it`s still patching . Try disconnecting from internet and disable antivirus . when patching notice the hard drive activity light especially when it appears to be frozen if the activity light is still blinking then it should still be patching .RandAlThor said:

I have no clue what that means, went on the net looking for what AppHang was n disabled everything in my apps, I still have the same area where it stops responding even did a clean boot, tried to install it again and that didn't even work. I have no clue what is causing this, I turned off my firewall. I'm stumped, looks like the only other option is to d/l each file individually because I'm litereally out of ideas here lol. Unless someone else came across this and knows a solution??
After allot of trial and error trying to get my copy of Witcher 2 working again I found the culprit. Apparently Mcafee included a toolbar called Mcafee SiteAdvisor into one of their updates for their SecurityCenter bundle. Once I uninstalled it the game started up without dropping back to the launcher. I did not find this in the list of toolbars causing the launch issues hence I figured I'd share for anyone who runs any Mcafee software.

So, I sucked it up and pulled out my Windows Vista discs, upgraded my Windows XP Pro SP3 to Windows Vista Ultimate SP2; uninstalled The Witcher 2 EE entirely, reinstalled and re-downloaded the EE, now the game no longer crashes at the Wolf's-Head Splashscreen without an error, it now crashes WITH an error

ANYONE? Any advice? I've been working on this issue since 9 PM last night, this is getting ridiculous as CDProjekt has made NO effort to fix the tremendous fuck-up that the EE was. I apologize if I seen brusque I'm just fed up with this.
I've tried running in with Admin privileges, I've tried running from just witcher2.exe and it still crashes with that error.

Tommy, a couple of other things you might want to add to the first post.
1. Take out all of your mods before you patch the game. Do not use any mods with the patched game until the author of the mod has updated them for the new version of the game or confirmed that the old mod is compatible with the new patch.
2. The developers have said that pre-EE saved games from Chapter 3 are NOT compatible with the EE. Do not load pre-patch saved games from Chapter 3. Whether saved games from Chapters 1 and 2 will work is not clear; the developers recommend starting the EE from the beginning.

Help me Tommy, you're my only hope. I'm getting the same problem as everyone else, this damn error: Witcher2.exe - Application Error (0xc0000142). Now I played the game Sunday and it worked fine. I didn't get this error til after the update. Here are my specs and software:
