So I wasn't able to fix my problem with the self installer but by d/ling the manual one with all those files lol, I finally got my game updated to the EE version. I left a link if anyone wanted to brave that way but I'm not sure what everyone else's probs are. If it was where the installer would freeze midway updating maybe trying the manual way might work, don't use that though if you d/led your game from steam. Anyways looks like everythings workin (I did get past the intro), too late tonight to play so def tomorrow.

Yeap, unfortunatly this is my next step and then I just quit and don't even bother trying anymore, I'll just continue playing The Old Republic, I love this game to death, I truly do, I'm one of the biggest Witcher fans out there, but if CDProjekt doesn't have a patch out to fix the hundreds of different issues that the EE presented within the next two days, then I'm not buying any more of their games, I'm now down $50 cuz I can't even play The Witcher 2 anymore, without the updates, its horrible, with the updates, it wont even launch.

Help me Tommy, you're my only hope. I'm getting the same problem as everyone else, this damn error: Witcher2.exe - Application Error (0xc0000142). Now I played the game Sunday and it worked fine. I didn't get this error til after the update. Here are my specs and software:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 860 @ 2.80GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295
4GB RAM
1 TB HD
P55 Evga Motherboard

Edit: I just discovered I have Searchqu toolbar on Internet explorer. I never only use Google chrome so I never thought to look there. However I cant figure out how to delete it. Any ideas?
Look in Program files for 32 bit or Program Files(X86) for 64 bit for a folder caleed searchqu open it and there should be a file labeled uninstall or uninstallexe they both do the same thing just click that and after uninstalling close the folder . As per my case even after uninstalling you will have 1 or 2 files that cannot be deleted . Rename the searchqu folder to searchqu.OLD then right click and delete .

@ All others i will get to as soon as i can .

Has Lucid patched Virtu so that it doesn't conflict with .Net 4.0?

I looked but i cant find the searchqu folder. I know its still there because when I check Internet Explorers plugins it lists searchqu. The most I can do is disable it, but that doesnt delete it. I tried deleting internet explorer itself but it says I need admin privileges and I not sure how to acquire those. Not sure why I dont have those already since I built this computer myself.

After my witcher stopped working (after Patch 2.1) and still didn`t work after the EE update, i found one culprit (at least for me)

The Bing Tool searchbar !!!

After Deeinstallation TW 2 EE worked and the damn 0XC0000142 error disappeared.... Maybe it`ll help some of you....

I found it! It was Windows ilivid toolbar. I didn't notice it before because I thought it was a windows program. Turns out it was made by Bandoo media, the same company that makes several other toolbars that are interferring with the game. So I suggest deleting anything and everything made them.

At the very top right-hand corner of my Internet Explorer Window there's a 'Bing' search bar, but I see absolutely no way to delete it... Could this little bar be causing all my issues?

Edit - Would it be worth it to completely uninstall every Net Framework on my PC and reinstall them all?

Bing folder should be in program Files (32 bit) or Program Files(X86) (64 bit)
For the .NET installations look here for a tool that verifies all .NET installations
http://en.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?/topic/26150-patch-21-issues/ . As for uninstalling you can uninstall all except the .NET installation that came with your computer .

It just occurred to me that when the 2.1 patch was released a few users said that uninstalling Autotune that came with Asus motherboards also fixed the 142 error .

Alright, the Clean Boot didn't work, and I don't have BING or Autotune installed. Which Net Framework 4 version does the Witcher 2 need? Framework 4 Extended, or Framework 4 Client Profile

Also, is there anyway to make Vista show the Error ID that's causing my game to crash? Cuz right now I'm not getting an error ID, I'm just getting "The Witcher 2:Assassin of Kings has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program;" There's no specific Error Number; is there a way to make it show the error number?

Finally got mine to work. For some reason I missed the offending toolbar in my uninstall programs list. So instead I just started to look through my program files folder and spotted it in seconds. Did a thorough uninstall and restarted my PC. The game started right up. My thanks to Tommy, Guy, and any other members who have pitched in on this insidious little issue. We can all look back and laugh about it now. Kind of.

It was the ilivid toolbar btw.

I think it needs both of those. I had unistalled and reinstalled them both as per vinthir's instructions: http://en.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?/topic/26150-patch-21-issues/ but that wasn't the problem for me anyway.

Like I just listed in my post above, search for offending apps not just through your control panel but go through them in your OS>program files folder as well. That's how I spotted the ilivid toobar. Also, do a dxdiag and save the info. If you contact customer support at GoG, you can upload this and it shows all the system info they need. Good luck. Drink lots. I know how frustrating this shit can be.

First off, thanks to all the users who trying to help those of us with this problem. While some of us still haven't gotten it fixed, I personally appreciate that those of you with the know-how are trying to help others.

Can anyone who has used the support form give us an idea of how long it took for someone to get back to you? I realize it will probably be longer considering the EE just came out and, apparently, it's got some bugs that I am sure they are getting support forms about as well. It would just be nice for those of us waiting to know about how long it takes. I submitted mine, but the waiting and not knowing is tough.

In the programs list it will show as
Window ilivid toolbar
In the install directory look in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files(X86) for a folder called ilivid .
