Flashbacks from the books

Looks like the last game of the serie with Geralt will have flashbacks scenes, a thing that the readers of the books will love for sure.
So, what part of the books you wish to see in a flashback, by this image, i presume that Ciri will remember thing when she was a very young lady.
I expected see to Bonhard and the whole crew of Geralt, or the training of Ciri with the witchers, triss and yennefer, with the rats, etc.
What you expected ?

The parts from the books that would make sense to the Witcher 3 story, like the flashback in Kaer Morhen from the Blood of Elves book to introduce Ciri (duh :p)

(SPOILERS FROM THE BOOKS FOLLOW, CLICK AT YOUR OWN RISK)
Maybe Ciri in the Aen Elle world, Ciri and Yennefer in Ellander, what Vysogota told Ciri when she first entered the Tower of the Swallow, maybe a passing reference to what Geralt did to Djikstra's leg :p, maybe a reference to Geralt's Hansa, etc.

However, I doubt they will use that many references from the books, they only need the important parts from the books that will drive and shape the story of Witcher 3, CDPR have their own story to tell, not the books :p

I imagine they will only have flashbacks that are necessary for understanding the story. Although it would be cool if you could unlock other flashbacks as a collectible.

Personally, I've never read the books so I have no idea what they will have. I just hope TW3 has more lore and backstory than TW2 because it's one of the things I like most about the series.

Only the parts that make sense and tie in with the story. So i doubt we will see Bonhart, Geralt's crew, the rats etc.

I think that the flash backs theme it's to show that geralt loves ciri like a daughter. And yennefer it's the love of his life. So they will show only geralt side. I read all the books and I will like to see all the info but it's a game. And the theme of the game it's geralts quest for his love ones.

Why did you haven't read the books?? Their are absolutely amazing and opens so much for the lore. Even the games become much more enjoyable.

The main reason I haven't is because I still live at home and I don't want my younger siblings picking up the book on accident and stumbling across the adult material. Maybe it's a dumb excuse, idk. But my siblings are used to me recommending books to them and having something with adult content lying around the house makes me nervous.

The other reason is because I hold books to a higher standard than video-games for storytelling and sometimes I wonder if The Witcher is really that good or if it's just like every other fantasy novel out there. So many fantasy novels are just generic copies of Lord Of The Rings.

@Finnway - First reason is understandable, but not the other. You should read critics and see why everyone prises Sapkowski's work. It's nothing like LoTR, but I love both differently.

in my opinion sapkoskys books are way better than Tolkien, theydont have the same impact because he is from poland.
You can read the books on your pc, smartphone or tablet. you can buy them online. or if you want to try and buy you can read a chapter or two and then buy the book.
if i say in my opinion that his books are better its because i read them from the two authors. its my personal opinion. sorry for my english.

We could see them in the flashbacks or bring them as ghost at the command of Eredin like the witcher aprendice in the witcher 1

I think that this screenshoot is the tutorial.

It can be an awesome way to learn the controls and to know about Ciri, at the same time.

Yes but more flashbacks couldn't hurt. Tho it doesn't seem like a flashback tho,
Yennefer and Ciri were never in Kaer Morhen together, İt's probably a flashbackish dream turned to nightmare

I see TW actually as an "intended polar opposite" of The Lord of the Rings.
In LotR there is a lot of noble folk, fair spirit and the world itself seems to reflect the hopes of the people living in it and seems to even partially rise up and fight against evil as well. There is one bad guy, one main enemy, a few shady side characters and of course the Orcs and Trolls, being the minions of evil.
The Elven race is respected, even worshiped, dwarves are well-liked and consulted a lot, people are helping along the way, everyone tries to give their best shot at what is seen as the thing the person is supposed to do, to become the person they are supposed to be, unified fighting one big evil.

TW on the other hand is a grim and shady world. Evles are not fair, but they have their own motives just like Humans and Dwarves. There are bad elves, bad dwarves, bad humans and bad creatures. On the other hand all of those species have good individuals as well. A lot of people in TW are out for personal gain and the world is very miserable, rarely does anyone believe in anything "good" and often do people look at outsiders with suspicion and greet them not very welcoming. Elves are seen as scum by the northern Kingdoms and Mages are feared and hated for their power, angry mobs rise up against injustice or in times of uncertainty and everyone is spinning their own political game. Tere is not one force of evil but there is evil everywhere around you. But not evil for evils sake, not pure evil. Evil with a purpose, evil for personal gain, evil out of grief or anger, evil with a backstory. There are more grey areas than in any other fantasy novel I know.

In the end I see it as intended that TW resembles The Lord of the Rings so much, but on the other hand proves a polar opposite in the details and relations within such a universe. IMO an homage to Tolkien and an own beautiful creation at the same time.

You pretty much nailed it.

Well, there was a lot of reference in the past games, but most of them were hidden, and smartly written you can enjoy it without the books, but when you read them, or some of them, you will have a "I know what did you meant here" smile. It is just makes the game even more good.

the main difference is that one its more realistic than fantastic. and the characters are not stereotyped
