Flotsam Guards Bribe Bugged?
Hello. I played the game to the point of entering Flotsam. At that point guards approach me and demand I pay a fine. There are several people who have this problem and several suggestions as to why it may be happening. None of them apply to me. To make matters worse there is a ton of confusion about this having anything to do with unsheathing your weapon in the city.
During the quest "Woe to the Vanquished" in the first house I used Axii to persuade the guards to let the civilians go. On the second half of the quest I DUELED the commander of the guards. No one was killed. I killed no guards prior to this either, I don't believe there is anywhere you can do this.
If it was intentional to have us pay the bribe for having DUELED the commander then this is still a "bug" of sorts as the dialog from the guards mentions "the widows and children" of Geralt's victims which would lead most people to assume it was for killing guards.
The only two options are to pay the bribe or to refuse. Refusing results in a cut-scene of you dying with no chance to fight your way out of it.
To be absolutely certain I had killed none of the King's men I loaded a MUCH earlier game and went back through everything, killing no one.
Still, when I take 4 or 5 steps into Flotsam I am asked to pay the bribe.
This is near game breaking for me. I get really into my RPGs and though I could just pay the bribe and pretend I didn't... I actually can't do that. Character flaw of mine, I suppose.
