I have this too, albeit the problem refuses to go away. I have already reloaded 30 times. Guess I have to wait for a patch. :(

same here. Loaded multiple times but I can't get into flotsam without someone interrupting gameplay in order to threaten me.

I got this bug after 2.0 as well.I imported my saved game from TW1 and when asked if I wanted to play tutorial I said yes. After tutorial it automatically switched to campaign and I ran into this problem when I entered to Flotsam. So I tried once more without playing tutorial, simply imported save and started the game.I didnt run into any guard demanding bribe yet,and walked around all Flotsam, completed some quests.I have absolutely no idea why tutorial causes this,or if thats pure coincidence but there you go..

That's interesting - I wonder if you've found the trigger?
Maybe other people can confirm it. Did everyone who had the problem come in from the tutorial?

No import for me on dark mode this round . I did play the tutorial . Although according to the sheet it didn`t register as played and when i arrived in Flotsam it was the same as always . Walked right in with no issues whatsoever .

Ive tried 2 or 3 times since my last post and I believe this bug is related to tutorial. If you start a new game(importing saved game file doesnt matter) and say ''no'' when asked if you want to play tutorial, everything is fine. However if you start a new game with tutorial-at the end of the tutorial the game recommends a difficulty setting and when you start the campaign you will notice that there are 2 completed quests in your journal, under ''Tutorial'' section- then game somehow thinks you attacked the guards and therefore the guards demand a bribe. At least thats what 5 or so tries have shown me..

I think this has something to do with "Squire's Boot", a quest item which we get in the tutorial and we can't get rid of it (because the game does not allow us to drop it).
Is there any cheat, code, hack or save game editor to help us remove this from the inventory?

This still happens in the 2.1 patched version in case anyone is wondering. Has anyone had him reject the bribe no matter what ? I only arrived in flotsam with about 400 orens and he rejects it. Nevermind he finally took it after reloading a couple times.

It would be nice if it does get rid of the Flotsam Crime problem, but it was only provided as a solution for being unable to dump the boots. Are they connected?

(The fix was untested, asI don't have any gamesaves with the tutorial in them. If anyone wants to upload one, I'd be happy to do some further experimenting)

So I have been extensively reloading trying to avoid paying the fine, and I have found a path "into" town. I walked all the way against the stone cliff/wall (as close as you can get) until the first fenced area. Then I walked straight across to the second fenced area, and up to the man with the cooking pot. From there you can walk back to the first fenced area ... I am still working out the rest of the path. However, I have found that walking on the main path in other then a few areas will insta-trigger the bribe.

My suggestion - if you haven't started just avoid the tutorial in the game you actually use.

Just tried the "boot fix" mod - and it didn't work. I couldn't drop the boots.

I have no idea if this will work, but has anyone tried editing the user.ini file? There is a section called [Tutorial], under that set Played = 0.

Just a thought.

Earlier offer still applies - if you, or anyone else, wants to upload a savegame somewhere from Chapter 1 that has the boots, I'd be happy to look further into it. The boots problem should be easily solved, I just don't want to have to play through from the tutorial to this point in the game to test it.

I'm not really surprised that it didn't fix the Flotsam crime problem though, as the two things are unrelated, except in so far as they both involve the tutorial. (I don't have any ideas for fixing the Flotsam crime problem)

I can't upload a save game - but I will try to send one directly to you. The save will be from right before you are forced to bribe the guards. This version has:

- Tutorial played
- Conviced Aryan to surrender
- Saved Aryan from the executioner

Ok thanks. I'll definitely work on the boots issue, and I'll take a look at the Flotsam issue too, although I think that's less of a chance.

OK - I managed to make some changes and thus get rid of the squires boots - unfortuatly it appears to have done me no good. I still am stuck having to pay a bribe to go any further into town (I have made it into the craft portion of town, but that is as far as I can get).

I think that sportycat had already found what I did wrong the last time (and thanks for the savegame!)

This is the confirmed-working version of the file to get rid of the Squire's Boots.
- Unzip into CookedPC/items.
- Start the game
- Go into Inventory and drop the boots.

(As mentioned earlier, I recommend you uninstall the mod after you've used it)

Going off now to look at the other bug, although I'm still not especially hopeful.
