Do most people consider the solo books legit? I looked at one of the books and it looked almost homemade / sketchy.

Solo of Fortune? 1 and 2? Published by R.Talsorian? Yes, absolutely. SoF 1 is more for 2013 and SoF2 is updated. I think the first sourcebook made was SoF 1, in fact.

Well, uhh...

You don't need to "consider" them anything. They are official books.

Of course you can go and say "well someone faked the R. Talsorian name on it and printed the books anyway" but then by that logic every single product in the world ever made has to be considered fake. So, there.

it's not like I own any solo books so I cant just look on the cover. I think I remember seeing book 1 and it had pics instead of art work; this made me think the books might be unofficial. All of the chrome books use art so it was unexpected and so i didn't buy them. Looks like ill need to purchase #2 just to get a better look at panzerfaust.

Yep, as said by Sard and Mac, both Solo of Fortune books are official supplements by R.Talsorian. There are two versions of the first one, one as a section of rules upgrading various things through out the book to the 2020 edition of the game inside the back cover of the book.

They look a bit 'home made' because they are meant to be representative of the in-game publication they are named after.

OK, now that I have been able to read the hole thing on Panzerfaust it looks like I need to pay 4000eb for some borg modification. Also looks like only the cover uses a picture instead of artwork.

The 'weapon reviews' use photo's instead of illustrations as well.

I believe you have to be a full borg to use Panzerfaust. That will cost a lot more than 4000eb.

I'm already full borg so 4000eb is all I needed to pay before I obtained Panzerfaust.

Which FBC did you opt for?

I went cheap and used the Alpha Class as my start then modified it. Although I'm new to cyberpunk so I don't know if I added everything correctly.

Alpha is a decent starting point. I opted for a Samson when Axl got trashed. Modified it over time until it was pretty bad ass. Metallic black paintjob with silver inlayed scrollwork, (plus a top hat!) Now thats classy

I went for Dragoon. Every time.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.

Like any GM who has talked to me for longer than ten consecutive seconds would let me ANYwhere near a Dragoon. Mmphl. Can you imagine?

Despite my occasionally vociferous rantings against FBC being in 2077, I have to say if they put them in and I can ride a Dragoon I may lose my shit in the most awesome way. I'll record a Youtube video of myself crying with happiness while rubbing baby oil over my naked skin for fifteen minutes.

Mmmmm.

(did you know the Dragoon can swap it's arms out for GATLING GUNS OR MISSILE LAUNCHERS? ALSO EXTRA ARMS?)

Speaking of leaping have you considered learning Jattenhand, Seveer? A Jattenhand Panzerfaust hybrid combat style would be epic and the added speed and maneuverability would help dealing with long distance opponents.

For the benefit of those who would be unaware, why don't you explain the 'downsides' of the Dragoon chasis...

Actually, I think I will:

The Dragoon chasis is so well stocked and is so lethal that it's occupants have to change out to an 'off duty' chasis, like an alpha class, to chill out and not go nuts. It also packs a 'behavior inhibitor system' which restricts the occupants thought processes and uses psychoactive drugs to 'control' said occupant.

Keep your Dragoon, I don't want any of 'em.

That's a reasonable point. I just made a point of making the life of said FBC a living hell. Between the discrimination and the massive over charging for whatever they needed, I made sure her Majesties Police harassed the shit out of them. (Being English, we mainly played games based in the UK.) I also made sure they had quite a few faulty parts. (Nothing quite beats the look on a players face when you tell him his left leg just lost all hydrolics while he's running for his life.)

It made sure that FBCs were a last resort.

I have never cared for full borgs. We played one short game where everyone was a borg. Another time a PC wanted to convert to a borg ingame. He saved and borrowed until he had the money to pay the book price. He went in, took all the tests. However, he did not bother to read the contract. Since he was buying the ware legally the psycho squad has installed several ways to monitor the borgs. Everything the PC said, did, saw, and everywhere he went would be recorded.

In my games, after the game starts, when you buy ware for the book price it is from a legal source. This means they take DNA samples, check the database, and update the PC's profile. Is the PC wanted? For me book prices are just the starting point. If you want something off the books or illegally it costs more.
