For people concerned about less population in the city!

Hello there!
I have been asked about the possible reduction of number of NPCs in the cities of Novigrad and Oxenfurt.
Having played for quite a while now I would like to assure everyone that the cities are dense! The videos you might have watched would have been of a certain time of the day when NPCs do not come out.
Also density in the cities is more near certain areas. I can give a 100% assurance of the city being as dense as shown in the official screenshot below. :)

Even if you don't find them on the streets, you can expect them to be inside the buildings!
If you ask me, The population of Novigrad itself is more than the entire population of all the cities combined in Skyrim. No, I am not exaggerating.
Novigrad is the most detailed city ever designed in the video games in my opinion. I am sure you wont be disappointed.

I'm more concerned about the lively feel than physical numbers, personally. I'll be waiting for the final product to render my judgement on the matter.

The downside of a large populous is the inability to interact with most NPCs. I preferred Skyrim's approach, because each NPC had a name, history, and something relevant to say.

I don't. By attempting to make every single NPC a unique individual, you ensure that every single NPC will be a dull cardboard cutout of a character. Good developers don't try to make everything equally important, but focus on the most important elements and put the atmosphere ahead of realism. It's not like you stop random strangers for a chat in real life, so it's completely pointless to give random passbyers more than some minor lines about not wanting to be disturbed. That way the writers can focus on the actually important characters and give them the depth and personality they deserve. Both the writers' time and hard-drive space are limited resources, so it's not wise to try to overstrech them.

Will the more substantial characters conform to the same routines as regular NPCs, or will they be confined to certain locations? I've always enjoyed seeing NPCs in Skyrim venture beyond the city walls, particularly if they live or work in the outskirts. Sometimes you had to track them down in order to turn in a quest, because they had their own schedules etc.

Yeah, like "I used to be a warrior but then I got an arrow to the knee."

We all love the quality of dialogues in Skyrim, don't we? :p

Wow, your very gullible aren't you?

You're taking the word of a kid that's obviously desperate for attention, so he claims he's been playing the game a lot.

Wow! He's been playing an unreleased game? He must be a magician. Lol

'Why do you people believe these kids that are just looking for attention?

Well, by that logic, we can expect nearly SIX people in the city!!

Nah, just kidding just kidding! Thanks for the update brother.

Besides the patch is addressed towards this issue anyway.

Multiple shops across the world broke street date and people have been playing the game for quite some time now.

My only concern about large populations is figuring out which ones you can and should interact with. I would hate having to click talk with every single being to see if they can actually be talked to.
