For those who think the game is too easy on the harder difficulties

I'm noticing a lot of threads about the game being too easy and over leveling. I'm wondering if you're all PC players. I'm playing on the PS4 and I'm actually finding the game to be tough as far as combat goes. My thought is that the console games by their very nature are far more difficult because the combat system isn't optimized for a controller. What really proves this point is when you're trying to loot. I've noticed that it's exceptionally difficult to loot a chest when other objects are near. The game doesn't do a very good job at identifying what you're looking at. Point was best proven today when trying to escape the Witch Hunters outpost and Geralt kept wanting to play with the candle next to the door rather than trying to open it. I assumed the door wasn't interactive since I could spam X and nothing happened. Even though the candle wasn't anywhere near the middle of my screen it's all Geralt wanted to play with. While in combat I could have one enemy solely in the center of my screen and Geralt would wildly swing where ever. I would imagine on PC it would be more precise where you're swinging and thus combat is much more manageable and effecient rather than a game trying to guess for you.

It is not the control, or the platform is the game: Some talents and mutagens are way too OP, and make the game a walk in the park (igni build, Cat School + Fast Attack, etc)

Here is the issue with games the last year or so. They are trying a different approach to difficulty then we are used to.
1) They are ONLY stepping up how much damage you receive on your end.
2) The mobs get increased attack damage, health and defense and that is it. Attack performance (as in attacking more and or defending more) is not changed.

I guarentee you that the Ursarine build of armor and weapons will stomp the cat school in every single way. And no Igni sucks compared to maxed out slotted in all points Aard. Try it out, you can kill nearly everything 1 hit with aard and don't have to lift your finder or sword in order to finish it off. Aard is OP

Igni isn't all that powerful. It only really helps you during the first half of the game. Later in the game Igni becomes near-useless, especially against bosses and bigger monsters that aren't staggered when they are on fire. The 75% armor reduction from the first Igni perk also really helps a lot against the Wild Hunt, but it's too situational to call it overpowered.

The Alchemy tree is definitely overpowered though. If you drop 1 point in Cat School and everything else in Alchemy the game really does become a cakewalk, even on Death March.

My tactic on Death March was going full Igni for the first quarter of the game, then respec to an Alchemy build.

I play on PC with a gamepad and I have used Mouse/Keyboard too but decided to stick with gamepad because I can only walk, run and sprint with M/K.

Looting... let me assure you that regardless of gamepad or M/K, they are equally annoying :p

Combat. Yes for me M/K is better simply because I have faster control especially when I want to turn my camera very fast and precisely. Using the gamepad, I feel that it is not as responsive and precise but sufficient.

Many will tell you that this Sign is OP that Sign is OP and what not but truth is all Signs are "OP" when applied/upgraded. I would describe them as effective because if Signs arent effective, why would I bother to use them. I recommend experimenting with them all against different enemies.

IMO, the game is on the easy side because of AI and patterns. Once you learn their pattern of attack, they are mostly harmless.

Has any of the patch made mouse and keyboard bareable? It was so bad I didn't even want to move my character.

It might be that you can get higher FPS on PC and that allows you to see what's going on and thereby dominate the battlefield.

Err... I am probably the last person you want to ask because I never had issues with M/K from the beginning and never had M/K issues with 99% of the games I play for that matter. Any controls that I dont like and the game does not allow me to bind, I will just write a auto-hotkey script to overcome it. So, my experience is pretty much the same before and after the patches.

But you can't change sluggish camera movement with auto-hotkey can you?

There's sluggish camera movement in this game for some people using a M/K?

Sluggish camera movement? Like how? I hear that some forgot to turn hardware cursor on and tis causing issues but I have not experience it myself because I turned that on before I started playing at all.

Also, choppy camera I solved by locking FPS to a constant 60 or 30 when I am playing 1440p. Once I lock my FPS to the lowest FPS my PC can support, everything runs much smoother.

Hmm...I didn't know hardware cursor was turn on. I'll go back to mouse and keyboard if that the case. Thanks for the tip.

Have my controller mapped such that R2+X, R2+O, etc, cast different signs.

You can do that? Can I map signs and usable items using the d-pad up, down, left, right for my xbox 360 controller?

Meaning can I map signs with left and right pad and usuable items with up and down on the d-pad?

Yeah, that's possible. For Dualshock 4, software like InputMapper and DS4Windows can be used. I am not sure what software Xbox 360 controller uses, but a google search should yield some results.

Also, if you didn't know, holding L2 (Left Trigger) and pressing left/right in combat changes signs.

Really? Man I got to try this. You don't know how annoying it is to constantly pause the action just to change signs or use usable.
