Forced Anti-Aliasing?

Anyone know if forcing AA in Nvidia Control Panel does anything ingame, or do i need a custom compatibility flag in inspector to force some AA?

From what I know, control panel will do nothing and there is a way to make inspector work with a flag but only sgssaa but the performance hit is worse then just using ubersampling

Yeah i tried that before, terrible performance and blurred the hell out of everything. Right now im playing with Driver FXAA on and it looks good, really lowers the dithering, cleans up the image abit, but still there are jaggies. I would like to find out a way to force real AA (not shader based) to get rid of jaggies and then have FXAA ontop of that to smoothen things out, that would give me a very clean image.

Forcing AA does not work well with this game. It causes problems like blank foregrounds or unwanted transparency. As you found out, FXAA works pretty well, and it is cheap. Ubersampling does better, but it is expensive.

Why don't you try the SMAA Injector? I used that before I got my GTX 680 and now I play on ultra with Ubersampling but the SMAA was great! It's way better then FXAA because it won't blur out the textures to make you think the jaggies are better and plus it's almost no performance drop

Ive thought about it, but im not sure if they will work together, im not sure if SMAA is shader based like FXAA but it is based on FXAA so they will probably conflict or something. So yeah im not sure if they will combine and work together.

But if you meant SMAA instead of FXAA then that would work but i actually like blurred images more than sharp noisy textures lol, just me i guess.

Also i have three 580's so i can definitely play ubersampling fine, but my problem is there are still some parts where i will drop below 60, and i am somewhat of a perfectionist, i cannot handle even dropping to 55 fps from 60, drives me nuts.

I bet if you didn't display your FPS you wouldn't be able to tell 60 from 55...LOL

Lol yeah i bet. But its really hard for me to play games with fluctuating framerates, even the tiniest bump or hitch/stutter, drives me insane like somekinda OCD, terrible. You have a 680 tho, have you ever tried keplers TXAA with the game?, is it released yet or still in the works?

It's still in the works and has to be supported by the game, it won't work for everything, maybe you should try to downsample it?

You create a custom resolution within the Nvidia Control Panel and then go into the game option and you will now see the new resolution you created and play the game in that resolution and the Graphic Card will downsample to your native resolution and thus a lot less jaggies but I don't know if it will drop you below 60fps since it's very hard on performance, it's old school supersampleAA

Would that in any way destroy my monitor though?

Your monitor still displays your native resolution because the graphics card has already rendered the game in the custom resolution, nothing gets hurt and is 100% safe. It's hard to explain...LOL

Thank's for the video mate, but damn i cant get it to work, i need a better monitor that actually supports 3840x2160. It wont let me create a custom resolution thats higher than my native 1080p. Anyway to get pass that?

Did you follow the steps 100%? What size is your monitor? Is it 16x9 or 16x10? This plays a roll in if it will past the test or not

P.S. The max resolution the GTX 580 is also a big factor, you can't create a custom resolution over that or it will fail the test

Hmm idk its odd, because i play GTAIV downsampled, same exact resolution (3840x2160 via config) and it works fine, so i dont think its the limitation of the card. Might just be drivers idk. But i just tried 2560x1440 custom resolution and it works, but heres the scary part, it applies it to my monitor, and my native is 1080p , dont want it running anything higher as that might kill it. How do i create a costum resolution without it actually applying it lol

It's not possible for it to be running it that resolution, it's a false positive, your monitor can only display up to it's max pixel count, I know it's hard to understand but trust me, it's only running in it's native, if you choose the custom resolution within windows then it's downsampling it there too and not just in game

EDIT: Once you create the custom resolution you don't need to apply it or if it auto applies it just select your native and only select it when in game options basically in order for the game option to allow you to choose a resolution over your native you just need to creat the custom not have to be using it

Scared the hell out of me haha, because everything went really tiny. So i should just create that custom resolution, and then revert back to my 1080p for desktop, then select the custom resolution in the game launcher?
