What's with the FOV? I think it its not so bad, playing in 1920X1080, it looks just fine for me.

i play in 1920x1080, i sold my 16:10 monitor just for this game to buy a 16:9 monitor, for the people that dont want to spend money for a 16:9 monitor CDP should just add mouse scroll wheel option to zoom in or out

Didn't know that, (i mean that FOV in 16:10 (4:3) looks zoomed) my friend just informed me about this issue. I hope CD Projekt will fix it soon in next patch.

Hi Maxx01, glad you could join us here, one think to keep in mind: can we agree to disagree? Hope we see some argumented replays here, not that spam you kept posting in the blog posts, k?

Now, on topic, with a quality 1920x1200 27" S-PVA why would I or anyone with a good monitor spend more money on a 16:9 one?
What's the advantage given that movies are 1.85:1 or 2.35:1 so one gets black bars in ANY aspect including your beloved 16:9 anyway?

"Sell your good monitor and buy a crappy new monitor" should never be _the_ option as long as the game devs CAN implement a FoV setting: http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/4879/witcher212pov.png

That's a (bad) dev decision, since they want that console market, that "above low settings @ 1280x720" market that is, but like whatever

I have a 24 inch 16:10 monitor and I was very happy to hear that patch 1.3 would offer proper support for my monitor. But when I installed 1.3 I was extremely unhappy to see that instead of extending the FOV vertically to fill the space where the black bars were, it instead SHRUNK the FOV so I see less of the game world. Yes it does now fill the screen but at the expense of a proper widescreen FOV. This is not good game support, it has made the situation worse. I have attached a screenie for what can be done, it is for a 4:3 monitor but it illustrates the point. Please CDP, how hard can it be to offer PROPER 16:10 support?! I absolutely love this game, completed it three times now, but this is a terrible botch for non-16:9 monitor owners. Please fix it!

I think you're confusing FOV (field of view) with monitor aspect ratio.
FOV tells how wide camera angle is (with high FOV you can achieve "fisheye" camera) - FOV is perfectly fine in Witcher II (53 degrees)

You mean aspect ratio, which game was promised to supports with patch 1.3. If the view is stretched/shrinked opn 16:10, then it's a bug that should be fixed.

Also I agree, it would be nice to have an option to zoom in/out camera (mouse scroll fits well)

This isn't a fault of the game. The game is hor+ meaning the wider the aspect ratio the more you see. Pretty much all games do this, with the exception of the few that are hor-. Since the game was running at a wider aspect ratio you saw more, but everyone complained about black bars "wasting space" so they implemented it the proper way. If they did it the other way it would mean that 4:3 monitors get to see the most space.

nope, Field of view is different for different aspect ratios, but it's way small for 5:4/4:3
you get 53 degrees for what aspect ratio?

+1 for implementing scroll wheel for being able to zoom in and out. It's not good to have to forgo the latest patch and install a mod just to be able to see the full amount of possible game world. Promising support for all monitor aspect ratios and then taking away how much you can see rather increasing it would fall under game disabling, not supporting. Seeing more is a good thing, especially in a game that looks this good!

I bet ya...

If they're going to correct this, people will complain about a performance loss (more to see = more to process) and demand the old widescreen implementation back. Or as an option. (Which, from a developers view, is even worse, because the more options the more potential for bugs.)

You cannot please everybody. Never. :D
