Yeah, Bioware is not exactly the best argument for CDPR listening to the fans...

Neither are Blizzard or EA, for that matter. Blizzard in particular can be viciously vindictive.

Oh, I wasn't making it as a point of indicating that CDPR would respond with the same vitriol (although who knows what the future holds, given the continuous rejection of first-person).

It was more to the point that this wasn't the first time that backlash and a ""vocal minority"" was ignored and it had negative consequences.

Also, the argument that 'it'd be impossible to do this in third person because dialogue requires you to be in first person because of these game mechanics!' sort of falls apart when Bethesda's Fallouts literally have you pull into first-person when you enter dialogue with people, even if you were playing in third-person mode - and that never bothered anyone.

So what's preventing you from being pulled into first-person when a conversation starts up (assuming we would be able to accommodate for the third-person in the first place)? If the only counter-claim is 'well that would be immersion-breaking!' then that just means that there is no legitimate counter-argument against third-person, seeing as immersion is and always will be entirely subjective. First-Person will never be immersive for me.

Cut-scenes third person, dialogues first person.

This has to be the biggest disappointment in gaming history since the Mass Effect 3 endings. I would never expect this from CDPR. But then, nobody expected ME3 endings from Bioware. I guess it's best to not be so hyped about games from now on.

Otherwise this poll would have way more traction and other sites such as reddit or the official discord are actually heavily in favor of first person.

Only devs know for sure, should wait for Gamescom at Germany/Cologne in august for more info.

Unfortunately i do not think that with the indoor environments as seen in a few of the screen shots released that a reliable third person perspective could be made. With ceilings at eight feet in height based off from the probable height of the characters seen in the screen shots would put the camera in the ceiling or posibly on the next floor of the building.

Like the rest of the 'you're in the minority" posts, yours too is born of nothing but a bunch of baseless assumptions. The only metric we have to go on so far is very much in favor of third person.

Sure wish I could believe this talk of a magical dialogue system, but we aren't allowed to see it. Only journalists who will hype it to all their readers were allowed.

You know that there was a bunch of very small houses in Witcher 3, right? And I dont remember anyone complaining the camera being problematic.

I think it will be fine to be honest. I trust CDPR. They mentioned reflections in windows/mirrors plus 3rd person when riding vehicles. Im sure there will be motorcycles for us to ride

Baseless assumptions?
I repeat, go to reddit, go to the official discord, there's no "baseless assumption", there's over 3k people online at the moment watching the subreddit that's heavily in favor of first person.
There's over 8k people active at the moment on the official discord and that is also heavily in favor.
Other sites have also done polls and first person is either tied or coming at top.
And more importantly, cd is obviously in favor of first person.
Both reddit and the official discord are also missing the people not online at the moment, which I guess would be around 20k which is a much more considerable amount of people.
Meanwhile this thread has 684 votes in total, counting all in favor of both or motion sickness...

This was a knee jerk reaction to a lot of people that expected something specific for no reason at all
Not only they have way more people than this discussion but I also guarantee you that this will mostly blow over once we get gameplay.

Careful denouncing what doesn't follows your desires as "baseless assumptions".

Every small house had a peeked roof in the Witcher so your camera was not forced to be two feet from your head.

People are quite divided on it regardless of which poll has a bit of a lead here or there.

Plus you get downvoted to hell and attacked on reddit or whatever because people accuse you of trying to delay the launch of the game by 2 years for giving feedback that CDPR asked for.

A lot of people want TP, thats not really hard to believe. Doesnt mean its going to happen though.
