I repeat, go to reddit, go to the official discord, there's no "baseless assumption", there's over 3k people online at the moment watching the subreddit that's heavily in favor of first person.
There's over 8k people active at the moment on the official discord and that is also heavily in favor.
Other sites have also done polls and first person is either tied or coming at top.
And more importantly, cd is obviously in favor of first person.
Both reddit and the official discord are also missing the people not online at the moment, which I guess would be around 20k which is a much more considerable amount of people.
Meanwhile this thread has 684 votes in total, counting all in favor of both or motion sickness...

This was a knee jerk reaction to a lot of people that expected something specific for no reason at all
Not only they have way more people than this discussion but I also guarantee you that this will mostly blow over once we get gameplay.

Careful with calling what doesn't follows your desires "baseless assumptions".

I agree with the 1st person visual for exploration and combat system . But for dialogues I prefer the 3rd person , the only moment when my pg can interact to others.

Is your vague, textless response meant to say "but look, cutscenes are third person too!"

If so, then awesome. I'll be happy to watch all the cutscenes on YouTube after launch.

Most of the people who wanted third-person were driven off of the official Discord by people like you, actually.

Driven off?
What does that say to you?
A majority could not be driven off, that makes it even worse, if everyone that wanted third person took refugee here those numbers don't look pretty.

The transition to TP for shooting elements would be relatively painless. The only thing that would need some work are the melee segments.

No it wouldn't, you know nothing of game development so don't speak. Third person camera is not as simple as slaping a camera behind a character back. First of all, we don't even know if they designed the animations with third person view in mind. Second of all, first person combat does not translate to third person combat, it would need entirely new combat system, especially the HUD. But that's only part of it because their conversation system is also locked in first person and non-translatable to third person view.

You're also in a lot of cramped spaces in tlou, tomb raider, gow, etc.
And mirrors are not a solution. Is it mirror city?

It tells me that the pro-first person crowd has a propensity towards immature, dismissive behaviour and likes to gang up on people when they feel like they have the advantage, and probably think that they're earning CDPR's favour whilst doing so (see: 'You stick to your vision, CDPR! Don't listen to these guys! I'm your REAL fan! Not them!' responses that can be found even in this thread) and that over time those who want third-person eventually give up on being insulted and called "cry babies".

Dialogue is entirely in first-person, yes. So it's only cutscenes, creation, and mirrors where you'll be able to see your character.

The camera in the houses was garbage but that wasn't the main problem. It was that Geralt had shit controls and it was overall shit. And that houses were designed with third person in mind so now imagine how shit the controls will be with first-person interior design philosophy.

From the sound of it they have come up with some kind of fancy new dialogue system in first person.

It would be nice to hear CDPR explain it a bit in more detail and why it has to be FP instead of just saying immersion.

Thank you. I don't why also the dialogues must be in 1st person. I agree with exploration and combat system but why also the dialogues ? Aniway I think they decided.

Given the amount of chrome involved, it's beginning to look like it.

Would be nice to chrome up your own character and watch them walk around with all of the reflections off them.

I like that dialog system in Deus Ex, but that still wouldn't satisfy "gimme TPP!" crowd. The problem is that CDPR designed their unique take on dialog, where you can look at things and trigger a response of an NPC, or stuff like that. One of the narrative developer was very excited talking about that on some video..

Alright -- that will do with the personal skirmishing about "this survey is better than that survey".

No survey is accurate. EVER.

And they don't matter. The only thing that matters is what the item in question means to you. Discuss that.

If the bickering continues... (Pulls out a shiny, new, marshmallow shotgun. Chrome plating, mini-marshmallow shot, gets a good spread.)

Um no, the camera was behind and beside geralt, not looking through the roof.

Oh, sweet! Now just point me to the polls where all those people voted and so expressed their opinion, as well as the evidence they make up the majority of people interested in the game and you're all set! :)

Snap, you got me, I only care about myself, and every time I said they should include both perspectives so that everybody gets what they want was a lie. You're a shrewd one, arent you?
Ok if you didn't understand the point. In other words. How far CDPR should go with "everybody" being happy? Should we stop just at adding TPP? What if some group will want this game to be much darker because they got this from first cgi trailer? Should CDPR now do this option to? And if no why not? Why your's group(this is why i wrote you) request is important and valid. So point is how far we can take concept with "everybody is satisfied"?

I don't, but I know a thing or two about 3d modeling and animating and I can draw a reasonably accurate comparison to the rest of work on the game.
Ok great. It will be easy when. If you animating model for player and you know it will be visible by the player when he controls and has to feel responsiveness and you must take in account camera angles is camera attached to his back(something like RE4) or its more free like in gta. Maybe is fixed how does melee work in fps and 3rd? is there aim sight?. Maybe camera is fixed indoors? What about hud? Other abilities skills? Can camera view perspective interfere with item/npc placement? Does it still all about some animations and assets? How about hacking how it works how we see computers screens in game is it like fallout? Or maybe is something like in doom3? Not saying you can't do it but why would you assume it being costly insignificant?

If the item in question is Cyberpunk 2077? It currently is rapidly meaning less and less, to the point that I've already resigned myself to expecting other people to provide me with a good cyberpunk experience instead. No point getting excited for something I'll never get to enjoy.

This sentiment is being intensified by the consistent dismissal of 'well sucks to be you' and 'CDPR did nothing wrong when they failed to clearly state their intentions' remarks, along with the increasing lack of hope that the issue will ever be addressed beyond 'nope, not doing it.'

I can agree with you if they a give good amount of possibility to see your character. Why the possibility to customize your pg if the only time when you can see him is related to cutscenes (30% of the game)

While I understand that, for some, First-Person is an inconvenience at best and a deal breaker at worst, personally, I fucking love it!

I've always found Bethesda's RPGs, particularly The Elder Scrolls series and Fallout series, some of my favorite RPGs because of the added immersion of First-Person view, especially with mods. I was beyond excited when CP2077 was confirmed First-Person.

Also, my favorite game AND RPG of all-time, the original Deus Ex, was also First-Person.

As I said, though, I can appreciate that First-Person isn't for everyone.
