And it is hilarious, because driving is the very only thing that should have been first person, lol.
GTA showed us how well third person driving works...

Uh... Driving in TPP is A LOT easier, although I'd prefer first person simply because of the immersion (in GTA5 and most racing games). Feels a lot more like actually driving a car.

Honestly thought TPP was the norm in racing games overall, especially since some of the harder achievements (least people completed them) in racing games are "complete in FPP".

Please don't present your opinion as a fact. Immersion is subjective by default.

immersion of controlling /watching a little sprite on screen via drone camera.
Immersion of actually being the character can only be done through their eyes. their perspective. Not subjective.
There is no debate. My final comment on this. Again, lets talk about your preference of playstyle and why it should be in the game.

Fallout and Skyrim TPP are utterly ugly, especially the latter. Combat feels impossible in third person and also the character looks like he's floating above the ground

Fallout and Skyrim FPP is utterly ugly, the low res right in your face, the swing in the air no contact sword play, the ghost floating camera disconnect from the character, horrible. In third, Combat is excellent, particularly with mod overhauls, now bow's are still great to switch to FPP but the rest looks incredible watching your character in the lush terrain run around, fly and do whatever else that looks like crap in first person. See little homie, it works both ways.

Well, if we consider that this game is an action rpg (on the paper, at least), we can assume that not much detailing is being put into the driving part of the game, do you agree?
And if that's so, and there is traffic on the roads like in GTA, then NO. Driving in third person is not easier.

At one time, they said "We listen to our fans."
How are they supposed to live up to that if they announce their decision only after they have fully committed to it? It's like saying to a brother
'I'll listen to your opinion before marrying that woman,'
***Goes off and gets engaged to a woman who's bad for him and returns to seek that brother's advice.***

'Why didn't you tell me earlier?'
'Well, I'm not married. I'm engaged.'
'Break it off, it's not good for you!'
'Can't. We're engaged. But I am seeking your opinion before I marry her.'
'But you just said you won't change anything!'
'True. But I am still seeking your opinion before I marry her.'

What's the point of saying that you'll listen, but then intentionally sneaking it past us instead of talking it out with us after the decision is made? We definitely don't control CD Projekt Red, but CD Projekt Red is just pretending to listen if they listen only after it is too late to change anything.

You can focus on 1st person and release 3rd person as an add-on or DLC with no guarantees attached. Where there's a will, there's a way.

I think you're being unfair here, hear what we have to say is a lot different than implement everything we suggest.. I'm certain they took a lot of people's feedback into account but expect they would implement everything people suggested is unrealistic, choose between TPP and FPP certainly wasn't an easy task and to be honest it makes a lot of sense to go for FPP since Eye augmentations are a big deal in this universe and FPP will capture the atmosphere a lot better than TPP in this case.

The option to choose between the two perspectives would've been amazing, but I understand this may require a lot of effort and resources that they've decided to put in other areas at this point.

People love the game, CD Projekt RED. All games studios have been from a third party.

Yeah...except that it's not true because the animations are absolutely horrible to see in third person and the combat is garbage because it's designed for first person and doesn't translate well in third person camera.

This is a plain simple technicality.

If 99% of the stuff is FPP, and 1% is TPP, it is NOT mixed perspective. Please don't take people for idiots.
Skyrim is mixed perspective, because you can do THE SAME STUFF in first or third person.

Oh, and you know what's more, on top of that?
I am starting to think that they introduced third person driving just so they could say they held their word on mixed perspective.

And the thought that this might be true, my friend, is VERY disturbing

Going through these comments are painful. We get it, you don't like a fpp and won't buy this game, it's not going to change anything. I think it's good that they're going the fpp route, and even though I too would like the option to switch between the two, I think we should just let CPR do their thing. I'm sure they know what they're doing after the masterpiece that is The Witcher 3.

They've even stated that you'll have many opportunities to see your character and that it's a role playing game, not a first person shooter. Besides, look at all the praise the game is getting from those that have watched the gameplay demo, people are loving it. Bear in mind that this is only the demo as well, meaning that the full game will feature lots of content that aren't available in the demo.

Have some faith in the dudes making the game, I for one think it's going to be amazing.

Yeah - I fully agree with that. But you know how it works... Internet and stuff...

I mean, I've been a forum member and fan here a long time before I was a moderator. They absolutely listen to fan feedback. That does not mean they have to or should do everything we ask. Nor is it a good development model to make design decisions based on opinion poll. They actually have the game, they've seen it and played it. They probably have a better idea of which perspective tells the story they want to tell than we do. In addition, even if they wanted to "appeal to the masses" rather than make the best game they think they can, it's not even clear what the majority opinion is of the gaming public in this particular debate - so there is an issue there to start with.

It is a very important piece of information. Which again, is probably why they made the perspective explicitly clear on the first day they talked about it. That is plenty of time for us to make an informed decision about whether we want to purchase the game on not. If it's not your game based on perspective, that is a totally understandable choice.

How is it compromising their vision if it is optional, though? If the zoom out/in button can be toggled in the menu, there is really no reason why it would affect gameplay in any way if it's a separate feature from the normal FPP

Agreed. They just lost so much goodwill in my eyes. When the leaks in regards to FPP happened, an employee could have come out and said they were true and today we would not be having this discussion. I also believe everything about this game is being exaggerated by the youtubers due to their knowledge of how much fandom that Witcher has and any positive video regards to Cyberpunk will generate more views.

Lastly why did a Cd projekt Red employee said they are listening to the feed back when they admit in interviews they will and cannot change the perspective. So why listen when you already know nothing can be done?
It's because they want to know what the real underlying problems are and if there are solutions. People get motion sick? FOV sliders and head bobbing options /motion blur options seem to help some people. People want to see their characters? They said there is a photomode planned, and now they most likely will get it implemented. They will take these things into account no doubt, so the feedback is useful

They never promoted this game as 3rd person, people made this assumption from Witcher 3. It's understandable. But CDPR is not in any wrong. So people calm you hype and get hyped for Half Life 3! Yeah

Why is it disturbing? if the driving, at cutscenes, in menus, and possibly in many more things is TPP then it's FP/TP mixed.

if they can implement it separately without having to change many aspects of the game, then sure I agree with you they should do it. And thinking about it maybe they will add an "explore" mode like someone mentioned, who knows.
