Honestly at this point, I don’t think CDPR really cares about our opinion. So many suck ups and selfish people with verified twitter accounts on Twitter praising the game that us, the core gaming community, will SURELY be looked over.
They are definitely paying attention, but only to the select few who are being formal and understanding, and not yelling in their faces demanding third person.

The press conference did not say BOTH it said mixed an what they talked about, so far is indeed mixed in nature. But more focused from a exploration/combat stand point in FP. Depending on the situation.

If the only part of the GAMEPLAY that is third-person is driving, then the game isn't 'mixed'. Not unless half the game is driving. To suggest otherwise is along the lines of homeopathy remedies that suggest adding a droplet of diluted sage into a glass of water means you've enriched the entire glass of water with sage, creating a 'mixed' product.

I know I've just said as much a few moments ago but I can't say enough how important I feel it is that there is at least third person option. A huge part of my interest in playing this game is seeing my various character creations on the screen, in the various environments. I realize that it's going to be first and foremost an rpg with FPS elements and not like say Fallout 4 which is the reverse but being limited to FPP is for me like a stake to the heart.

I'm tired of FPP games and vastly prefer TPP.

Please CDPR, give us the option to choose.

So you're agreeing with me? (y) the way a game is built up and presented in a game is connected to everything else. So providing something outside the scope of it's indeed perspective purpose. Will bring about problems, because it wasn't made with the purpose of having that perspective be switchable, as a option.

And you don't think that's what people are concerned about?

If the game is designed specifically to be a first person perspective game with all that implies about the end result...and they don't like those sorts of games...then it makes it far less likely that they'll like this one.

Yes, that's true. But the hue and cry at the time was that the game was going to be FPP for most/all of the gameplay. CDPR never lied in the press conference, but they did craft their reply to be a bit vague. Technically, it's correct, but the concern at the time was that we'd see forced FPP game play.

That said, those of us who were concerned and saw a big red flag with that leak did read into the press conference answer what we wanted to hear, sadly.

No, not really. Polls are an opinion snapshot of the options of the people responding at the time the poll is conducted.

It doesn't mean that those opinions can't or won't change as the people participating in the polls receive more information. I myself am less enthusiastic about the game than I was previously, but I'm open to seeing more information potentially changing that opinion.

But a poll very much IS an objective measure of peoples' opinions with the knowledge that they have at the time they DO respond.
I mean there's a crap ton of information out there. Now of course i think what will help is footage but it's obivously not ready for the public. Though i'm sure that whatever CD would or could have shown. Wouldn't be looked upon nicely the minute they saw the perspective. Even if it looks amazing.

Sorry, in that case, for my snippy response - I'm sure you've noticed the general attitude that's permeating the place, so it's hard to tell who's being sharp and who's not.

Either way.. honestly, the first-person really does just sound like it's a 'safe bet' because 'well the market chart says so'. And again, the only combat and gameplay facet that it seems likely to benefit from first-person is the gunplay, at least given literally every single other first-person game to do melee.

No worries. I certainly could've taken the time to come up with a better word than "crying," so I get why you took offense. My bad.

Hon
I'm really happy that the game will be in first person, because I vastly prefer that to TP and I think it's vastly superior. Some of the best games and RPGs are in FP. Games like Half Life, Deus Ex, System Shock 2.. as far as immersion go, nothing really compares to them. And some people here have stated that you can't do stealth and melee combat properly, which is total nonsense because there are Thief series (best stealth titles) and DMoMM (amazing FP melee combat). Not even gonna comment on that dude who claims that you can't do RPG in FPP..

It's really childish to whine and badmouth a developer just because you're not willing to give something, that you're not used to, a chance. I would prefer for Witcher to be in the first person, but I'm not going to whine about that- I choose to play it regardless. And even if CDPR decides to implement some TP mode, don't expect it to be for combat as well, because the journalist describe combat as visceral, tons of stuff is happening.. so how do you expect all that to be properly animated and look good in TP? At most, they can add TPP while walking and exploring, and I have nothing against that as long as FPP isn't compromised in any way.

So CDPR, please stay true to your vision and you will make the best game possible. I can't wait to see some gameplay.:p
Honestly that’s all I ask is TPP exploration and driving. I’d love FPP combat.

Pretty much. Also if CDPR DID decide to add a third-person option, the vast majority of pro-FPP peeps would just shrug because they'd still get their FPP experience.

It's not always possible to add a third person, it depends on how the game is designed. It's not just a mod to the camera settings.

Re: Bolded part

We don't really know this as a fact yet. All the proof we have of this at this point is what CDPR has told us and they're relying on their reputation for that to be enough at the moment. (And to be fair, they do have a well-earned and great reputation to this point.) We don't know for a fact (yet) how far this game will tilt towards which genre.

But given that games like Fallout 4 really leaned heavily in the FPS direction, I'm concerned.

I'm extremely stoked about the fpp. Very best thing they could have done. There's nothing better for shooters or action games & it truly enhances immersion imo. To the people who are concerned about not seeing their character and cool gear I say: I've played Destiny(1) for a long time which is a fps with tpp elements to it. The whole point of the game is to get cool weapons & gear & to look cool. And even though it is an fps the devs threw in a ton of instances in which you can watch your char in all it's glory. E.g. customisation and cutscenes. I'm sure cdpr will create similar tpp elements to Cyberpunk. And if everything goes South there will be mods. But please don't go shouting about your disappointment in a fashion like the devs owe you anything just because you "had to wait x years for the game". This sense of entitlement seems to be very common with some people in this forum.

We decided to go with First Person Perspective because it adds to the immersion - let you experience the game through eyes of the main character. We're not planning to allow switching to TPP for the same reason. You'll have many opportunities to see your customized character in cutscenes, inventory view and mirrors. It's going to be First Person RPG, not a FPS.

This is heartbreaking... I physically cannot play FP games. Well thank you for letting us know. Good luck to you guys.

And you don't think that's what people are concerned about?

That's the thing it's not like the game will be FP 24/7. They've made that clear it's just that the detail and the nature of the game itself is more suited to a FP experience with lot of angles. It shouldn't mean that the game itself will not be fun. Unless of course you don't feel well playing those type of games, physically. Then i don't know what to say. Hopefully they make it something that won't make you sick, as there are different ways to implement a FP perspective. Without it feeling floaty or detached.

Because i'm sure they tested a bunch of different ways to try and make the cyberpunk augmented, body swapping, body upgrading elements with HUD and UI changes, work in TP but it just didn't look or feel right. Maybe they should show that test footage or the process to make it clear, why.
