FPP only cutscenes might be a deal-breaker for me

The more time is pass and more news come out about CP2077, all they say about game sound like false advertising, close to PnP not even close, you can print your character sheet and use it in PnP game, no you can't even that, magic ability that don't have any sense and go against cyberpunk lore, and now even no TPP cutscenes .

False advertising because they do what they said ?

Again, nothing's changed folks. TPP scenes, even though there are some in the game, were never an integral part of the design and were never advertised as such. Remember the Interactive Scene System ( here's a small thread with lots of info about in the OP: Interactive Scene System ) they're doing? That relies entirely on the first person perspective for its effectiveness in "cutscenes" or, more specifically, dialogues.

I'll never fault a developer in choosing how to present their game, but in this case I can't wrap my head around the idea that we have an extensive character editor, complex equipment system with variety of clothes and armors, and we have near zero opportunity to observe our character. It's not really about cutscenes, but give us an opportunity to switch to 3rd person at least in more peaceful sections. Navigating a hub, walking a street or whatever. Anything to make it worth it to craft your own looks.

Another thing that bothers me is that we will never see V's emotions.

That's the experience devs want to deliver. I mean, in Witcher, Geralt is Geralt, not you. but in this game V is you. (of course not fully, but relatively) If you are sad, that would be V's emotion.

And V is V, in every game pc is avatar of you in that world, in short trailer jackie is diying in car, and on V face you see his emotion his state you know he care about him, that make game alive more cinematic more Immersive, all that in FPP don't exist.

What they did as first said ???? is CP2077 close to PnP CP2020???? sure you can't bring PnP 100% to PC, but you can do good job to bring as close as you can, from what they show we see they add things that not in PnP and not fiting in lore of CP2020, if this was done by some other company you also would yell fals advertising.

Well it's still not that clear
there's this interview here
mark 17:10 where CDPR say there are going to be TPP cutscenes and where you will see your character.
But they also talk about "tricks" like going to the ripperdoc and watching your body through a disembodied eye.
It's a shame they can't be a bit more clear.
I personally just want those very small cutscenes like the one in the apartment to still be there. If those small scenes are in there it's okay for me.

Sex scenes on FPP?? Looks like somebody really love their POV porn LOL
Come on guys, take a chill pill. Have a little faith on CDPR. Remember, being "cool" is everything in Night City & I doubt CDPR would abandoned that notion on us & not having to know how cool our V's gonna look.

System Shock

So the question is: do you care because Jackie died, or do you care because V cared? F. ex. if I don't care about Jackie, then this (seeing a cut scene with V's desperation) would be immersion breaking for me.

It's official now, even though they say some TPP cutscenes exist (I don't understand why at this point, they should re-make those as well) almost everything will be in FPP.

It's a great news for me because I firmly believe that 1 good perspective is better than 2 mediocre perspectives. Plus, it shows bravery in taking "risky" decisions which IMHO is the only way to make great and innovative videogames (see GOW 2018 and RDR2).

I'm one of the people who play 99% of the time in third person (I think I played less than 10 games in FPP in almost 25 years of gaming) because I suck at it (in particular for cover shooters), I'm sorry for those who can't play it for "medical problems" and alike, but goddamn if I'm happy for those who say "I'm not playing it in FPP because I can't see the character so I'm gonna boycott the game", I think it's very childish and closed-minded.

P.S. as everyone who has read my posts know, I'm everything but a yes-man or sycophant, I'm criticizing CDPR a lot for very (IMHO) cheap decisions, but this is brave and I respect them a lot for it.

Hahaha, this decision is hilarious,

"We listened to the fans and added more character customization opens, we are so cool"

2 minutes later,

"You'll barely see your character unless its a static image on the pause screen or when your driving I guess, why you ask, well you MUST BECOME IMMERSED in the game, doesn't really matter if people can also be perfectly immersed when watching people converse in the third person"

What absolute nonsense. If they can't say the truth, they should just shut up and pull a Rockstar.

I can't remember the last time Rockstar ever justified their design decisions and people still love the game. In contrast, the more they justify themselves, the more I lose interest in this game and the more I remember that despite their success, they are still a small studio and I should have known to temper my expectations.

so brave.
Lol, what in God's name is brave about this?

RE character sheets that was not a promise. The quote about character sheets is from a 2013 interview ... but presuming you want to use it, paraphrase it accurately.

"The rules of the pen and paper game are great base material for the game, but straight adaptation isn't as simple as it might seem," Stępień said. "Some skills just cannot work in a video game setting the same way they did in the original game, so we build prototypes, experiment a little and see what will work.

"All the same, you want to try to stay as close to the original game as possible, since it is the inspiration. We even want to have an option of printing your character sheet from the game. Balancing the game and all of its stats while remaining true to the original handbook is one of the main problems our designers try to solve. And I must say, to this point they have been quite successful."

"We want to" is not a promise. Also staying true to source material was described as something they they were trying to balance and solve. He says in that same quote that a "straight adaption" is not simple and that there are skills that cannot work in a video game. They've been saying since the start that a mature non-linear story based cinematic open world cRPG based on Cyberpunk 2020 was the main goal. The game we have now definitely meet that description.

It's clear that there IS a ton of the source material in this game. It uses 5 of the 9 roles either in lifepath or classes (and street kid is similar to Fixers and Rockerboys history wise), 5 of the 9 stats (3 of which - movement allowance, luck and attractiveness - IMO were good to leave out), many of the same locations, factions, cyberware, gear, characters, lore and themes of the game are there. They've actually included more of the PnP than I anticipated. If you told me three different lifepaths with different starting questlines in the prologue were going to be in 2 years ago, I'd have said you were crazy and there was no way they were going to be able to do that.

Also, as stated above by Marcin Momot, there are going to be very occaisional TPP cutscenes.

I couldn't agree more. They should go along the R * way. Just openly say: "it's our game, our vision. Love it or not." Pretending to listen to players feedback never ends well.

That's beginning to be a lot of "generally" disappointing news about Cyberpunk if you ask me.

I also understand people telling others to be careful about the words they use and to not take anything for granted until they say "confirmed". But you also have to be careful what you talk about ! No matter if you say "that can change or be removed", you're still creating excpectations

Bullshit, how is a first person Interactive Scene System better, when its basically a camera looking at NPC's talk?

At least in the Witcher 3, you could see Geralt react to what NPCs were saying, you got a sense that these were people talking to each other.

Now you'll just have characters talking to a camera as the voice actor reads their lines.

How great. Very Immersive. I'm sure I'll forget I'm playing a game then.

I agree with everyone, spending so much time to have what seemed like it was going to be an awesome character and to never be able to see it, not even in cut scenes. Waste of their time and my money. I hope it changes or my already pre ordered copy will be a paper weight long before it see my console sadly to say !!!

So, having nerves of steel(to be cool) let you stay alive under heavy fire from enemy machine guns??? some one need to tell that to all the soldiers in combat zones, that they just need to be cool and they will stay alive since bulets will bounce of them, artilery will miss them and explosion will just blow dust on them.

Yeah great that we will have one or two cutscenes in TPP in 100+ hour of gameplay.
