FPP only cutscenes might be a deal-breaker for me

The use of the phrase "it's really subjective" is getting tiresome. This is a thread of people sharing opinions on a topic - we don't need a constant reminder of that fact.

Deleted a couple posts - it's a Cutscenes thread, not another FPP TPP better/worse/not an RPG after all thread. Had those for a year, CDPR made their call. If you can't accept that call, that's too bad, but it's time to move on.

If you'd like to talk the viability of third person custscenes vs first person cutscenes, cinematic presentation, cinema verite and whatnot, great.

If you want to go back and forth over well tread and fruitless ground, this has been done to death here.

It’s really subjective.

I think Big is saying it's implicitly, objectively subjective. Thus, there is no reason to constantly declare it subjective.

In any case, most commentary declaring X, Y or Z more better or less worse falls within the realm of opinion. It doesn't necessarily make the commentary less useful. As an example, say nine people think X sucks. Whether X sucks may be subjective. The fact remains those nine people still think it sucks.

TBH, I don't get why people get triggered by camera perspective so much. Developers don't make decisions to troll people. They have whole picture of the project and they come up with decisions that suits it the most. Wait till the release, see how it looks/feels and then make an opinion. There will always be people who don't like a particular aspect of the game, but nobody forces us to play. If I don't like a produtc - I don't buy it. That's it.
I support cdpr not because of what they make, but because of how the make it. Their approach to developping games, their dedication to the idea and passion in it's realization are what make them unique. If the process is conducted in a right way, the result will always be exceptional. It doesn't mean everyone will like it, not at all. Will I like it? Donno. Will I try it out? Of course. That's the way it works)

Sorry for that Sard.

Since the whole message has gone, I'll simply repeat the bit that was relevant to FPP/TPP cutscenes.

FPP cutscenes may help with greater continuity of the overall feel of the game. Also, possibly, it may allow the player to choose what he looks at and focuses on during some or all cutscenes, unlike TPP where things are almost always a 'controller down' segment.

I sometimes like having that bit of freedom.

I have nothing against TPP cutscenes in general though so I'm not trying to crap on anyone's preference.

Anyway I'd like to know how romance cutscenes are supposed to work in FPP, it sounds horrifying TBH. Romance is usually one of my favorite aspects in a story heavy game but the idea of an NPC's face (or worse) coming at the screen/camera definitely makes me want to give it a pass entirely. (Assuming romance is still in the game?)

I think I need to start looking at the game as simply an action game rather than being in denial and hoping it will be changed last minute.

Too bad CDPR isnt the first one to do it. GTA did it before. I personally hope Cyberpunk goes for little wilder stuff.

[Sard Edit: little much, thanks]

Metro Last Light has those (possibly Far Cry 3 opt. ending as well),; you can see them on YT I think, and yeah, horrifying is about how I'd put it. Some things simply scream third person, and romance cutscenes fall well within the category.

Speak for yourself. In first person, you can do stuff like slap in the butt, pull hair, grab breast, bite/suck ear, even kissing on the neck has much greater impact in first person than in 3rd person. In 3rd person you just watch the bodies.

I don't know. If the erotic scenes are seen though V's eyes, then the developers will have to provide a prude V or risk an adult only rating for their game.

Or pixelate some areas ... that's also an option of course.

A week ago I've posted that how this game would be a no go for me. But perhaps I was a bit too rash, and still prepared to take a nibble of it. I still believe a character creator in a more or less 100% fpp game is somehow ridiculous and I still hope some tpp mod will come to existence one day, considering the complete player model will be present in game all the time (not V's body without a head or something similar like that).

Maybe I'll try to create one myself, for outside cutscenes at least (emulate tpp option for vehicles perhaps). I've never done it before, usually retextures or some tweaking with a hex editor, so no promises. Awaiting release I'll try to see how they've done it with other games.

Everything you said is unlikely to be in the game. They're not making a porn game. I'd expect to see some bouncing boobs but nothing really explicit. They'll stay pretty vanilla with sex scenes, the outrage would be too great from moralizers otherwise.

I can't honestly really see FFP romance playing out too great. But in the end, it will depend on how invested I am able to get to V as a character, despite FPP. If I don't feel invested in them as characters then I won't really care about the romances either.

Bouncing boobs are a lot more porn than my ideas. What I said its just normal sex, bouncing boobs are just meant to irritate you. Well, little bit rougher but thats what one can expect from Cyberpunk. Some girls also likes to scratch with their damn fingers, that would fit for Cyberpunk, imho.

I think first person is gonna be great. They can tease with it, if they play their cards right, you can play with the idea and leave some stuff to player's imagination, as in 3rd person you pretty much need to show it all. Yeah, 3rd person is too revealing.

I don’t think player related romance ”scenes” are even needed. Those things won’t happen as one’d imagine them anyway. They’d also be awkward in 1st person, so they’d serve best when left up to imagination via fade out.
