Fps drop to 10

Hello,
I'm stuck with playing witcher on Lenovo Y570 Laptop for time being

and I'm experiencing a weird FPS drop. when Game starts its basically 35FPS for about 30 seconds and then it drops to around 10. If I open inventory or character screen or cause anything to refresh scene FPS is up again. Weird thing is it happens on any Graphics preset, low or high. its almost like something in scene gets cluttered, like particles or something not cleared out of memory.

I was wondering if there is some driver/config setting that is known to cause this?

Witcher 2 is EE

I have latest Nvidia Driver.
Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM
NVIDIA® GeForce® GT555M Discrete Graphics
6GB DDR3 memory, 500GB HD

I noticed also that GPU gets pretty heat up, like 80c when game is on.
could that be the problem

What is your game configuration? You are not using Ubersampling, right?

Lenovo Y series have well-known heat problems, a number of games do cause heat-related slowdowns on them, and if any game does, this one will for sure.

The GPU running hot is a constant problem when running this game on laptops. This game will run the GPU at full load for an extended period. Many laptops will respond by cutting down GPU performance to keep it from overheating. This is one cause of frame rate drops. It sounds like yours, especially if it stops when you drop to a 2D mode, then repeats after a few minutes in 3D again.

The GT 555M's a good GPU for this game, if you can keep it cool enough to play without the laptop slowing it down on purpose.
