Framerate Issue with The Witcher 2 EE

Hello to all,

Recently I decided to upgrade from my old gts 450 to a brand new gtx 660 ti, hoping that I'll finally be able enjoy the game with a stable 60fps, but things didn't turn out as I expected. I'm playing the game on High settings with Ubersampling and CDoF disabled and I manage to get a constant 60fps in relatively enclosed areas, but the minute I step into a wide open area(for example: the soldier's camp outside Triss's tent)my frames drop in the 30-40 range and go back up to 60 in cutscenes and when I enter another enclosed area.

My specs are:

OS:Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit
Motherboard:Asrock M3A770DE
PSU:Fortron Aurum 700W 80plus GOLD
CPU:AMD Athlon II x4 645 3.1Ghz
GPU: Palit gtx 660 ti JETSTREAM 2GB
RAM:4GB

So, does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? Could my GPU be faulty, or my CPU bottlenecking it? Or did I just have too high expectations overall? />/>

EDIT: Forgot to mention, just as an experiment tried playing the game on the lowest settings with pretty much everything disabled and got the same results. The tutorial area and the arena run just fine.

CPU bottleneck I would say. Watch out your CPU utilization to see if it's near 100%. If your GPU usage is not maxed out then you're CPU bottlenecked.

definitely CPU bottleneck. That GPU will last you for years, change the CPU and you have a pretty equipped beast. Go for Intel btw.

I'm not completely sure the CPU is bottlenecking.Just checked my CPU Core Usage and non of my cores gets used up to a 100% the highest it'll go on any of the cores is 80-85% but then again I don't know much about CPUs so I can't really tell.

If I am to change my CPU which Intel model would you recommend? I haven't used one before so I don't know which one will go the best with my specs, keeping in mind I don't intend to overclock and it should last me for a good while.

Definetly, its your CPU, I have GTX 260 and Phenom II x4 and I have 50 FPS in High Settings (with 1280x1024 resolution).

Why would you go to INTEL? Keep you MB and update just your CPU, Phenom II x4 have a price of more or less 80€... (Revision 3, that can be well overclocked...)

Intel CPUs work better with games mind you. A 2nd Gen I3 can out run a FX 8 core anyday. Not a fanboy btw, because I use an AMD gpu myself.

I'd sell the board and the cpu and get a newer I5.

For games the best would be either i5 4670k + Gigabyte Z87X-D3H or i5 3570k + Gigabyte Z77X-D3H if it's significantly cheaper.
