Frustration with getting Secret Ending

I've been playing through the game really eager to try out the secret "Don't Fear The Reaper" ending and I can't get it, and what I find really frustrating is that while 80% of the game does not have a significant effect on the end of the game, three basically random inputs during "chippin' in" lock you out of arguably the funniest / most interesting ending. Super frustrating needs a medication should just be that you have good relations with Johnny, and the wait, not the completely arbitrary dialogue selections that if you don't make bar you from a fun challenge.

Has this been confirmed though? Or it's just people speculating?

Confirmed, it is the only dialog in the game that gives 10% per bump instead of 5% and after that one mission there isn't enough interaction with % increases with him to make the % rise above the 70% threshold. In order to obtain the dialog in chippin' in MUST be performed exactly in the right order to get it.
