Full combat rebalance 2

Found it on REDkit forums... I dont see it mentioned anywhere here so without any further ado *ctrl+V*

Full Combat Rebalance 2
One of the most prominent modders of the first Witcher, Andrzej Kwiatkowski (modding scene nickname – Flash), who’s currently working with us as a Gameplay Designer, is finishing his own mod that tweaks the combat and alters some parts of gameplay of The Witcher 2. Here are just a few features that his upcoming mod will include:

- overall purpose of the mod is to increase Geralt’s responsiveness and mobility
- Geralt can parry attacks while he’s walking and running (new animations)
- Geralt reacts faster to keyboard/gamepad buttons
- active block was replaced by active Quen
- during heavy battle Geralt uses pirouettes and focus (new animations)
- difficulty levels were rebalanced
- Geralt does not “bump” away from opponent’s swords when his attacks are parried which allows quick continuation of the attack sequence
- opponents explode when particular attacks are used, e.g. Igni causes opponent explosion, just like in The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition intro
- elixirs have negative influence

Flash said that he will release this awesome mod in the next two weeks. Personally, I can’t wait!

I love these ideas but this:
- Geralt does not “bump” away from opponent’s swords when his attacks are parried which allows quick continuation of the attack sequence
The bump is really annoying, it shouldn't push you back but the opponents' parry must break you attack sequence or you would simply ninja everything down.
I'm not a fan of godmodding.

Have you played an FCR-modded version of TW1? Trust me, Flash is not one to make god mods.

Flash doesn't make "god mods".

I just finally downloaded the EE because of this!

I couldn't get myself to play this gorgeous game anymore, because the bad mobility and the rolling took too much enjoyment from the game for me. Now Flash makes the game I had always expected it to be and I'm so much looking forward to properly play it. If it doesn't crash on me every five minutes again like it did two years ago.

I am not in the least afraid of a god mode, I just think that Flash removed the annoyances of the game. :)

The 'not bumping away on block' is interesting, I think. Most enemies don't have a clear animation to tell whether they will block or not, and in some cases their counter attack on blocking yours is unavoidable (gargoyles are damn annoying to fight without quen for that reason). I'm fine with the staggering on block, but if it's impossible to judge whether your attack will get blocked or not AND there is no way to avoid the counter attack, that's problematic, especially since you die so quickly on higher difficulties.

On the other hand, being able to continue your combos without interruption might upset combat balance... we'll have to see, though I don't doubt the mod will be great.

Regarding the blocked attack and bounce back:
This should really be a question of 1)mass 2)force and 3)balance/hand-eye coordination (skill).
As skill is out of the question,(we know Geralt is highly skilled) I think the question of bouncing back and staggering would be a question about how hard your attack is and how massive/unyielding the foes weapon/whatever is. Personally, I would not mind a "bounce back" given you attacking a significantly heavier object with your sword, but I think Geralt should not stagger as much -given his reflexes and skill-but instead "follow the flow" and move with the force feedback. In that way, you will have a mechanic that forces Geralt into a defensive but fluent (recover) move when hitting something too massive (like massive sword wielded by a big and heavy opponent) with a lighter blade (like a silver sword or lighter steel sword)and thus cancels a relentless chain of attack.

I am really looking forward to this mod, it's sounds awesome!

Would anyone be interested in limiting the number of times the player can use dodge per battle It might be a cool thing to add to this mod.

How about the opponents block/shield not working when attacked from the side. Currently the hit detection is pretty awful.

Will there be an announcement when this is released? I just got the game a couple of weeks back, starting my 3rd play through soon but I might wait until this comes out, sounds awesome.

That's probably going to look really weird.

Maybe, maybe not.

Realistically however you would parry and move at the same time.

It looks fine really, given what Flash had to work with. I see a couple new animations in there. It appears he doesn't hold the sword high when parrying on the move.

Gonna be honest here, it looks a bit off but it *is* only a mod so I shouldn't expect amazing results (I usually don't use mods anyway, so I'm not the target here). Looks decent for what it is, but what Geralt does at around 11:20 hardly looks realistic at all - you can't counteract such a force by casually waving your sword in the attack's general direction, barely putting in any effort :p

@Costin Yea, you probably would parry while moving but I assume you wouldn't be walking in the stance Geralt is in the video. That's all I'm saying.
