I know Flash put a huge amount of effort into this and I know it's a free mod and I shouldn't complain but I can't help but feel disappointed upon trying this out. The entire levelling system has been essentially removed, you can get +5% damage here and there but effectively every tree has been nerfed such that goin into the level screens just isn't worth the effort. I'm reinstalling now to get rid of it, since unfortunately removing it via the mod menu doesn't undo this. Other people may well get a different response and place a different emphasis on the changes but for me the complete removal of a character upgrade tree is too heavy a price.

Rakuku: you're mistaken, the upgrade tree is not completely removed but changed as well. Unfortunately the descriptions in the upgrade tree have not been updated for some reason, so you currently can't actually see what they do. Hopefully there'll be some sort of fix : )

I tried it out: It's got it's good parts and it's bad parts. The lack of updated tooltips is a rather major problem for me as well as ridiculously overpowered mages and Elite Kingslayers in Arena.

Maybe it's just a workaround, but you can insert the en0.w2strings in the The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition\CookedPC folder to override the existing file, but don't forget to make a backup. Than the changed tooltips will appear ingame. You'll find the file in the Documents\Witcher 2\UserContent\fcr2_a1 folder, the other files in fcr2_a* are the same.

Yeah you're right, on playing the arena I've found the upgrades don't do what they say and the tooltips just refer to the rather lame first versions of the upgrades. The lack of documentation is still almost a killer though, since I have no idea what any of the upgrades do I'm not getting any satisfaction out of choosing them. If there was a simple text file saying what the upgrades did that would go a huge way to fixing this but I can't even find out what's going on through trial and error. I might just have to forestall this playthrough a little longer until that shows up.

Edit: For about 5 seconds it seems, Regenshine, you're a legend.

If you follow my workaround you will have the correct descriptions ingame.

Just doing the "we split up at the monastery" part on Dark diff.
So far La Valette soldiers have god mode blocking skills with their swords not to mention shields.
It's not rolling now, but the same stuff applies: get behind him, power backstab, spin away, repeat 3 times.
When they manage to block backwards magically, just use Igni til the whole group dies (2-3 shots since it's OP and also covers a nice area).
> gate splintering part
> I watched a guard for a minute, as he was blocking blows from 6 of our soldiers at the same time.
Triss killed me like a dozen times when we had to flee from the dragon. Her explosive fire spell is awesomely powerfull, just don't get into its 5m range. She also kept nuking Foltest and Roche viciously. Of course they don't get hurt, but the spell still kills you if you're close to the king / to Roche.
Meanwhile Roach was constantly throwing something (dagger?) instead of going melee.
So finally I just stayed back under my little nerfed Quen and let them clear the road by nuking each other in the back.
That's gonna be interesting....

Is anybody building an alchemy based witcher? Experiences?

Hahahaha this sounds insanely funny, I'm still downloading the mod...on my third world internet.

Probably gonna try a Swordsmalchemy build.

Oh my.
I am replaying TW1 atm and I think I am gonna sit that out and see if there are any updates to the mod after I finished. If the info about permablocking is right, I think I am gonna dust off my Aard-bomber build :D

Hey, guys. As you've already noticed, unfortunately there's a bug in mod installer. Localization file is installed in wrong directory so you won't get new skill descriptions. To fix this issue, please move en0.w2string file from
\Documents\Witcher 2\UserContent\fcr2_arena\
to
witcher_installation_folder\CookedPC\
before overriding the file make a backup.
Sorry for inconvenience. I'll reupload fixed installer when Redkit website becomes more stable.

Sounds like you are continuing from a savegame made without a mod. This might mess character skills. If you plan to play with the mod, a fresh playthrough is recommended.

Easy difficulty = piece of cake
Normal = enemies are handicaped
Hard = enemies play at their full potential
Dark = enemies are buffed.

Reporting bugs :

1) Stuck in the tutorial..cant parry and riposte. No icon appears and I am holding E and waiting for it.
2) The beginning of chapter 2 Roche version, at least is hopelessly bugged. Already reset three times, each time I got farther, but this is getting too frustrating.

Not sure whether:
a - it is the fault of the patch
b - a result of not starting a completely new game

The mage either never walks, or randomly goes back to the beginning.

Is it just my game or the active quen (previously blocking button) is indeed very unresponsive? Sometimes I have to wait like 2 seconds before it reacts.

I have 3 issues here. First one is there's no fire effect when I use Igni. Geralt makes the animation when using it, and enemies get hit (seems wider, as the mod description says) but I can't see the effect. Same thing happens with Aard. When examining closer, I can see the effect at it's arrival, just not the travelling visual effect.
My other problem is when in combat, if i roll, sometimes it uses the new animation, and sometimes he rolls. It tends to work (new animation) but sometimes Geralt starts rolling for no aparent reason.

Anyone else having this problems? I'm gonna try to reinstall because I don't see any mentions here of problems with the visual effects. It may be just me.

No sign effects here either. And it also seems random whether Geralt wants to roll or do a piruette.
Edit: And there's still no directional attacking (WASD+hit, so you don't have to turn the camera towards foes) is that not possible to implement?

I'm relieved I'm not the only one hehe. Let's hope others answer if they get the visual effects or not. I'm curious.

Did you start a new game? (I did)

Also, about the active quen question, I find Geralt makes the new animation as fast as I press the button but the Quen effect starts building up, and takes like 2 seconds as you say. Is that what you were refering to?

Both special effects and piruettes are explained in readme. Please read it.
