Many here suggest june-july releases,not that i have anything against its just that i dont remember any big games releases in these month expect for "The last of us"(which was ps3 exclusive unlike TW3).
Seems that devs dont really like releasing games in these months.

Releasing a game when nobody else releases a game could gain more attention, if it is really good and especially if it already has a fan community.

Naughty Dog was already known for Uncharted, Jak & Dexter and Crash Bandicoot for many years, therefore The Last of Us wasn't really a surprise hit, many people awaited eagerly it.

Also game sites will have nothing to do around that time, so they would concentrate on a Witcher 3 coverage.

"So, nothing else is released right now, so why not pick up that strange Witcher game i've never heard before."

I agree with you i just find it strange that other devs dont think the same way.

(Stupid conspiracy theory and dramatic music:big movies come in those months,so maybe devs dont want to clash with them)

Big companies rely more on market statistics than the quality of their products and the loyalty of their fans.In business, intuition is not considered acceptable....

Correct me if I'm wrong but Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was released in March of 2006. There was nothing else out. I can't stress this enough--nothing. It would remain that way pretty much until September of that year when games would slowly start seeing releases on the 360 again. Adding to that, the game came out for PCs and Next-Gen consoles only, which meant that everyone on the 360 was dying to play something--anything--and many wound up playing Oblivion. Skyrim didn't sell 10+ million copies out of nowhere. Oblivion made a killing and turned the Elder Scrolls series from niche franchise to a powerhouse blockbuster.

Why the trip down memory lane? Simple. A similar spot is opening up next year. Let's say late Q1 through Q2. We will have Next-Gen consoles again, and the summer is always dead for gaming. What better way to grab an entire console audience by the short and curlies than by releasing a massive, epic RPG like Wild Hunt to fill the void?

TL;DR - I'm not a marketer and I don't work in sales, but the smart money seems to be on whoever can get that precious dead summer window all to themselves.

i talked about the summer,also it wasn't an opinion i just explained a fact(which is that june-july are the mostly dead months for big games releases,really how many games got released in july which are well known and are not dead like prototype or something?)

wichat: of course,its just strange that no one even tried cuz july is usually is a dead month for games. (when did i mentioned something related to intuition?i just said the june-july moslty have the least game releases for big titles
)

And some are very sad cases like kingdoms of amalur(it wasnt a 10/10 for me,but i wished 38 studios all the luck in world and the got...got..i dont want to talk about that :( )

Then again they needed at least to sell 3 mil copies for even making any profit so it was a huge gamble

Well I remember skyrim completely overshadowing The Witcher 2 in terms of popularity. At first people were like: Will TW2 be game of the year? Then Skyrim came out and people pretty much stopped talking about The Witcher 2. Except for us fans of course, and the more critic people.
