G-Sync Monitor Users & Witcher 3 - TURN IT OFF!

Apparently Witcher 3 and G-Sync monitors do not play well together. Discovered that if you disable G-Sync the game runs a lot, lot smoother. When enabled the game is stuttering and a huge loss of performance (FPS).

No idea why this would be the case, but sadly is.

EDIT: Friend with G-Sync monitor just turned his off as well. 20% boost with G-Sync off. WTH CDProjek ???

Who's at fault here: Nvidia or the devs of the game ???

I have a new G-Sync monitor and there is camera stutter in animations, scenes. Not sure what is causing it. I have a fairly good setup (dual GTX970's) in terms of computer power for running the game. Then again, I don't understand all the graphics options either.

Go into Nvidia control panel and disable G-Sync and load up the game. You'll get a 20% boost of performance.

It makes do difference on my system, identical FPS with G-sync on or off. This is with the latest 353.06 drivers though.

That's interesting. Friends PC and mine are SO different. We both run the Swift ROG Monitor (2K 144Hz G-Sync monitors) though. He runs a GTX 770 and I run SLI GTX 980's. Complete different motherboards and CPUs as well.

Both of us are using the 353.06 drivers, too. Both used DUU to do clean installation of the drivers today. G-Sync on we lose performance, off we gain. I don't know :/

Did you enable the new Gsync for windowed mode feature in the new drivers? That isn't working right on my SLI GTX980 setup either, even when running full screen. The game just becomes a stutter festival. Try to enable Gsync just for full screen apps in NV control panel and then it will work fine (in full screen mode obviously). Sucks but SLI owners always have to deal with missing or crippled features.

I'll have to try this when I get home, as I have noticed some stuttering. Does it introduce screen tearing with G-Sync off? The stuttering isn't bad on my machine, and I'd rather have occasional stutters (usually when I first load the game) than screen tearing.

Don't have G-Sync but something to consider since up until the newest drivers, G-Sync only worked in Fullscreen - If you run with an overlay(Steam for example), the game starts in borderless windowed mode and you have to switch to fullscreen each time you start the game. Make sure it is.

newest nvidia driver
VSync off/on (doesnt really matters)
G-Sync on
Frames unlimited
Fullscreen Mode

works like a charm...very smooth. G-Sync is awesome.

playing on 4k g-sync monitor here (with SLI setup) ... no problem either, gsync is epic, alltho the window-mode g-sync is not working (tested it with Diablo 3 and didnt seem to activate)

but the normal fullscreen gsync works like a charm...
also, gsync shouldnt cause an fps-loss at all, i'd say there is something else wrong with your system or setup

GSync is working flawlessly for me if I just enable it for full screen apps. But at least with The Witcher 3, if I set Gsync to work in windowed apps as well, performance collapses even if I still play it in full screen mode. Looks like something is broken on SLI setups with this new setting, at least with this game (haven't tried other ones yet). Disabling SLI it works as intended, but meh, did I buy 2 GPUs to use just one?

G-Sync works fine for me, I have SLI Titan X's. Been playing at 1440p/ultra since release no issues. Though it is interesting if this effects some people

Did you enable the new Gsync mode (full screen and windowed apps) in the latest drivers? That's what seems broken for me. Gsync as it has been until yesterday (means just for full screen apps) is still working fine. But this setting seems to affect things it shouldn't.

I'll have to check that, as I do run it with Steam, and I remember seeing it non-full screen once (I changed it then), but I haven't checked on that setting since.

According to a post on Geforce.com, an issue with GSync and The Witcher 3 has been identified and a fix is expected for later this week.
