This is not the help I was expecting for this bug. I have already dumped 25 hours into the game to get to this point, and now I have to start all over because they can't rotate a wheel. CD Project, I am disappoint...

No u don't.

Just download the 2.0 Critical Rebuild: it will bypass any check or error and will downgrade your game version to the pre-EE one.

With that u can easly move that damned wheel.

Will this rebuild work with the steam version? It wasn't clear in the devs post.

For the boxed version install the game and when it asks you whether to download the patches cancel. Go to our Support page and on the right you will see the patches. Download and apply 0->1.35 and potentially 1.35-> 2.0 if you prefer 2.0 rather than 1.35.

Alternatively, you can use the 2.0 Critical Rebuild on a fresh installation, or any other version actually - it's non-differential so it doesn't matter.

EDIT: Basically, there are 3 kinds of boxed The Witcher 2.
1) Patching 0->1.35 and 1.35->2.0 is for the 0.0 Master
2) If you have the Namco autumn release of the game based on 2.0 master then you don't have to patch it at all if you want to play the 2.0 version.
3) And if you have new EE discs based on EE master and you want to use old saves you had from some other version of the game then you would have to apply 2.0 Critical Rebuild which I mentioned above.

I downloaded 2.0 Critical Rebuild but encountered an error. So I am stuck AGAIN.

Error message:
Extracting patch2_0_CR-3.bin Error: CRC mismatch in file "patch2_0_CR-3.bin"

I have to agree with others that your "solution" raises eyebrows at best. Its one thing to say you cant use a savegame in the middle of a changed area/different content, but it appears to be an unchanged click item in a random [required] quest. Even if i'm wrong seems like the kind of thing spending the hours to research and fix would go a long way with your customers. I'm a programmer and if i told my client they had to rebuild their database cause i didn't feel like figuring out how to convert a decimal to integer in one field that's causing them to crash and not able to work, dissapointment would be an understatement. At minimum I concede that at least there IS a workaround just with a lot of effort and crappy solution, but events like this will weigh in my future decisions.
PS: Dont get me wrong still a great game and getting an enhanced addition addon provided free is appreciated, but something free that destroys the original is not.

There has to be a way to convert an old save to work in EE. It shouldn't be that hard for the devs debug department to figure it out. It's just a save... That is if they actually try.

I reverted to the 2.0 patch, and was able to turn the wheel. Now that I am past that bug, steam won't update to the EE. I'm guessing I have to re-install the game via steam to get back to the Enhanced Edition.

Plese fix this bug! Using 2.0 critical rebuild patch means we have to download 4 GB then we may have to download again also the EE patch so other 10 GB this way we waste a lot of time!!!

Well Im pretty screwed, the game is no longer recognising any saved games I have in the saves folder :/ I think it is trying to use the ones on the steam cloud where there are actually no saved games. So I cant use other peoples saves past the glitch as TW2 wont recognise them and I cant use saves from earlier in the game either :(

Why are people bitching so much that the saves from Witcher 2 2.1 arnt compatible with the EE? Seriously, are you that surprised? The EE changed a TON of stuff, it only makes sense to start over to avoid error because of how much it changed. We all had to do this when the EE launched for TW1; and the EE isn't really a 'patch,' I don't know wha you would consider it... a Mini-Expansion pack? Or a maaaajor DLC? Dunno.

reaper004, that is a horrible weak argument. It is still a patch, and there was absolutely no indication that any fundamental part of the game was altered so it would require a new save game. I myself play very fragmentarely, meaning that i started the witchter quite a while ago, progressing quite slowly. I was already half way act II when i heard about the EE patch though, so i wasn't planning on going to start over just on the fly.

Also, the vergen bug being a cogwheel that is clipped in a wall sideway is what i would call a very fixeable bug, nothing else.

I really hope you can get this bug fixed asap...
I understand that things will break after a massive patch, it is bound to happen, especially in a game like witcher 2 with so many different choice paths..

But unfortunately the current solution just don't work for me.. Here is why
Here is my scenario (and I hope you take this into consideration)
1) I live in a country where internet isn't great, and for me to download the Critical Rebuild patch will take a good 2-3days(and that is if the download doesn't crash somewhere), while the GoG version will take forever! (I can neither invest my time or effort into doing something like :( .. And really want to finish this damn game!!)

Hell! My EE only just finished downloading this afternoon!

I really hope I don't have to play from the start or from act 2 again..I have limited time, and have already clocked over 40hrs into this game and really can't afford to start from scratch..

Please make this a NB on your next bug fixing list of things to do! Until I guess I'll have to play WoW or something ><

O.. And @Reaper004 .. Steam forces this update on users.. AKA patch.. If it was DLC etc it would be optional.. But patches are forced

I had that problem, for some reason cloud saving wouldn't turn off even tho I had no saves with it. I fixed it by going into Documents/The Witcher 2/Config/User.ini and changing CloudStorage=true to CloudStorage=false.
