No luck with 10, tried the development kit for win 10 also, I do not get black screen and crash error anymore, but I see game using 1GB of ram and 20% CPU in task manager and it just sits there. No game window or anything.

Unfortunately i have to back down from my assumption. Although the error doesnt occur the game is unplayable. 1 fps on a i7 3770k and a gtx 780 lightning.
RED Fix you DirectX wrappings for the love of god!!!

Thats it for me. Filed in a refund. Let down for a game that was pushed back mutiple times.

There are probably many reasons for the startup crash but this one might be one of it.

Got confirmation from gog.com about not meeting the requirements for graphic card (http://en.cdprojektred.com/support/tw3-system-requirements/). Got a refund (store credit). This is the first game that I cannot play on my system.
Then I've decided to buy a new a graphic card so I bought the game once more with GTX960. After swapping the graphic card it runs perfectly... for about 25 mins then it gets killed by out of memory (6GB is not enough if you do not have swap turned on).. turned on swap... and everything works great! installed 1.03 patch - so far no issues..
Anyway make sure your graphic card is dx11 compatible - you can have dx11 system but not the dx11 compatible card.. weird..

Tried on Win 7 SP1 - unsuccessful.
I know about this trick for quite a while, since Watch Dogs, as i remember - it works only on Win 8.

It's all so funny. That's the screenshot from my notebook with i3-2,3ghz, 8gb ram and integrated low GPU Intel HD4600. I got no dedicated GPU and IT WORKS. Something's wrong with this game.

Updated to 1.03, still doesn't start.

I'm on 2500k with a 970. No OC. All drivers, directx, VC redist, .Net framework > Up to date.

Can't play. Great. :/

Crash logs are in the first 4 pages, people stopped adding them, because they all were same.EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (3221225477), is always the same, error writing location is different every single time even for one person,

For all of us, crash is black screen for less than a second and then the executable just closes.

We would send tickets to support if they would pass!!!!
I don't even add an attachment to them and it says that the ticket is too heavy.
Therefore please send this post to your tech guys.

The error comes always from the same space of memory, and it is coming from a dx function. So the game is making it behave wrongly. There i just avoided hours of investigating. Put someone on it? Please?

Tested it with GTS-250
Okay, first of all - it works. Game is running, at least.
Cons:
1) you need Win 8 + Windows SDK for Win 8, it contains DirectX SDK with dxcpl.exe (you dont need to install full package, just Windows Development Tools, smth like that, you can uncheck other options).
2) most likely you will suffer MAJOR fps lags, even after lowering all settings, tweaking user.settings file and adjusting NVidia/AMD panel settings.
Worth it trying? I say no. You can run game but you wont be able to play it anyway. So just calm down and save some money for graphic card upgrade.

I've spent a lot of time trying to work around this issue. No luck thus far...

I don't even get any error. When i try to start the game i see the loading cursor for some seconds, then NOTHING.

My system:
Intel i5-4670K
Powercolor Radeon HD 7950 PCS+
8 GB RAM
Windows 8.1
(All drivers up-to-date)

I tried all possible solutions i could find on ony website, but nothing helped so far.

Do it just like me. Cash in a refund on your retailer. But it in a couple of months during black friday. Hit them in the pocket. Maybe then they'll learn to release things better
