Game crashing on loading a save (modded)

+
I have been playing whack a mole with the mods that were not working or causing errors and I am stuck here:

Version: 3.0.77.64623
RED4ext Version: 1.25.1
ArchiveXL Version: 1.16.9
TweakXL Version: 1.10.5
Codeware Version: 1.12.9
CET Version: v1.33.0
Redscript: installed correctly

Successfully Breached: G:\GOG Galaxy\GOG Galaxy\Games\Cyberpunk 2077
The following log files have errors:
========================================================

red4ext\plugins\TweakXL\TweakXL.log

[2024-11-13 18:12:46.469] [error] instances: Ambiguous definition. The value type cannot be determined.

I have no idea how to resolve this error. If anyone has any idea what's going on I would greatly appreciate the assistance. I got this information using the FindAllErrors bat file.

At first glance, I would assume one of your mod with a TweakXL dependency is problematic. Why and which one, I really can't even begin to guess with so little information.

If you've got like 10-ish mods, I might be willing to spend some extra time to try and help you figure out what's happening. If your list is longer than that though, I'm just not willing to invest that much time into that but someone else might. Either way you would have to post your mod list here.

If you do post your list, put it in spoilers please so it's easier to navigate if this ends up going for multiple posts.

Considering how many mods you have, screenshots might actually be better.

So, as I said, that's way too many mods for me to invest the necessary time to help you with that. Someone else might want to but that's more than I'm willing to do and since I don't use the overwhelming majority of those, none of them immediately jumps at me as potentially problematic.

I can offer general tips though.

From the download dates, these were downloaded over several months. I assume you managed to play during those months, is that correct? If so, can you think of any mods/batch of mods you installed where things went wrong? Have you tried turning these off and seeing what happens?

You get that error but you didn't specify what happens with the game itself, I assume it crashes? If that's right, do you manage to actually play or the game doesn't launch at all?

If you turn them all off, does the game start? If it does, don't load your potentially modified save but can you start a new game?

EDIT:

I just realized, those are not download dates. Those are last modified dates straight from within your folder, right?

I thought those were download dates from Vortex. My mistake, that changes things. Did you download all of these at the same time and just fire up the game? Because if that is what you did, that is generally a really bad idea when modding. Always add small pieces, test, add more, test and so on.

If that's what you did, frankly this answer sucks but I would perform a clean install as described here and start over. Small bits at a time.

These mod installs happened over a few months. I typically install mods once at a time or a few at a time so that i can rule out any problems. The game crashes when I try to load a save. This started after i installed the Dark Future mod and two vehicle mods (BMW m4 and the Cyber bikes). I deleted them but the game still crashes. I can try launching a new game and doing so without mods to see what happens.

What do you suggest is the best way to remove all of the mods temporarily?

Oh, good, I was worried you had done it all at once.

That does open up a few avenues.

As far as removing all mods temporarily... removing is too strong a word for what you can do with CP2077. Most mods in CP2077 will apply some permanent changes to your game. Returning to a fully vanilla state is pretty much impossible without a clean install.

If you're using a mod manager, typically Vortex for CP2077, you can turn off all your mods from Vortex but, again, that doesn't return you to a vanilla state. But if you do that and the game at least starts, that's a starting point. Then you can try re-enabling them a few at a time until you have them all turned on or until the game crashes and you'll know a mod from your latest batch is problematic. If one is, re-installing it might fix the issue.

If you installed the mods manually, you're kind of shit out luck as far as temporarily disabling mods.

If you use a mod manager such as Vortex and activating them in batches didn't work, what I would do to return to the state you were in prior to installing those problematic mods is first make sure your downloaded mods archives are safely stored for easier re-deployment. Then perform a clean install install as described in the link I provided above. Then re-deploy your mods. In theory your game should be exactly the same as before you installed those three problem mods.

If you installed them manually... things are a lot more complicated.

I'd first start by verifying file integrity through whichever platform you use. Note that this can potentially break your mods, and by extension your game, if files are re-acquired. You may need to re-install your mods.

If no files are re-acquired and the game still crashes, I'd suggest removing only these from the link I provided for the clean install:

REDEngine and CD Projekt Red folders from here %userprofile%\AppData\Local\

Then verifying file integrity again. It will re-acquire those. Again, this has the potential to break your mods which means re-installing them.

If all of that fails... I'm afraid your only path is to do a clean install and re-install your mods from scratch. You also can't really forget any. The game should start even if you forget a few, especially the clothing mods, but your save might not load. Or it might be severely broken.

I did a clean install and installed most of the mods manually while periodically checking to see if my mods were working. I am currently playing with mods and its working fine. idk what tf i did but it doesn't matter at the moment. Also, i never use vortex unless i have to. shit sucks. TY for the time
