Game freezing after around 15 minutes / sound keeps playing

+
Just gonna repost something I posted on the bug thread on reddit:

Alright. I've tried everything and finally could be on to something with the freezes that happen every 15 mins or so.
My pc can handle Ultra at 60 fps (gtx 980). I changed the settings so it's locked to 30 fps. Since then, I've gone 1 hour and 40 mins without a freeze. In that time, I've done just random quests, rode around, killed monsters, and just did the griffin fight.
Another note: I didn't die at all in that time. Could be something to do with loading too. I alt tabbed a few times yesterday and it was showing a screen of an earlier save for some reason. EDIT: even with 30 fps lock and using driver 347.88, sometimes when I alt-tab it still shows an earlier screen of the game.

I'm using the nvidia driver that was before the GTA V one too. Haven't actually tried this driver at 60 fps, but all the other drivers I tried were at 60 fps and froze constantly.
Sucks to play on 30 when my PC can do 60, but for now it'll have to do. It could help Nvidia and CDprojekt narrow down the problem.

As @mindw0rk2 wrote, in nvidia control panel > 3d settings > power usage = performance probably do the trick for me. I tried for hours other things from this topic and from gog site (driver downgrade, vsync off, disable second monitor and lots of other options...). But every time game crash after some time (in minutes) - random time, random action :-/Now after power usage settings I play over hour, but don't have more time for longer test...but this is longest "playtime". So I hope this will be, where is right problem.

Been playing for a few hours with no crashes now. Using the pre gta 5 nvidia driver and unlocking my FPS in game. Using Afterburner/rivia tuner to lock it to 60 fps. So far so good.

Hello all ,

I think I have solved the problem with me my computer by changing power settings, particularly by removing the sleep from my PC.

Since it no longer worries freeze

PS: Sorry my english is not fantastic.

No problems all day so far using the pre GTA 5 driver + unlocking frame rate and just locking it to 60 fps with MSI afterburner.

Could be that just this driver is good, not sure, but it seems to run the game flawlessly. Using a GTX 980.

My W3 experience

Install new drivers without clean just before W3 release, didn't even restart the computer.

-4 hours of max graphics at 1080 with hairworks on, game suddenly freezes with music looping and I have to do a hard reboot.
-2 more hours of gameplay before I go to bed
-1 hour next day and I get the same freeze with music looping, installing the 350.12 GTA drivers using DDU to uninstall
-1 hour and it freezes again, this time I however manage to end the process with task manager.
-Turned off hairworks and it didn't crash for the next 3-4 hours.

Will see how it turns out today with no hairworks. Asus Strix 980 GPU with a 4790k all at stock settings even.

Oh and the computer has never had a Nvidia driver crash before in any game. One thing I did do though before the 4 hour crash was enable my two secondary monitors.... I know the screens flicker each time I turn them on and off so they go totally dark and not just into some hidden mode. Who knows if that caused the crash.

I dont play with hairworks but still get crashes. Updated to clean latest geforce drivers and still crash. Only thing i have not done is disabled second screen, thats next to try.

Try that.... the damn thing actually survived 4 hours without issues for me and crashed in 30 min after turning my two other monitors on, I should have stayed with my "I don't wanna be disturbed by other things" monitor mode. Think I turned them on so I could see some chat.

I think i will try this too, but its unacceptable for me. So let's hope this disaster will be patched very soon. Unless this is fixed, i will try not to play the game.

The problem was solved for me by switching FPS options to Unlimited.
5 hours active inventory using - no freezing or crashing so far.
Good luck!

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
... I really tried most of the things in the Forums from GOG, Steam and here, what has been suggested to make the game playable for a GTX 770 owner ...

NOTHING HELPED

still freezing and black screen after 1-20 minutes
THAT DRIVES ME NUTS
... that same thing happens with Dying Light and they needed 5 Months to make it stable for GTX 770 owners, at least they succeeded !
So anyone of the DEVS trying to solve that ... PLEASE INSTALL A GTX 770 in one of your systems and test it yourself , it is terrible ...

ANY PATCH IN THE WORK ???????????????????????????

SAY SOMETHING ...

I'll have to try that as well I guess, never had an issue with the inventory myself though. Each crash was while just walking around, this is starting to sound like a power management issue in the cards themselves or something.

Fixed for me by setting FPS to unlimited in game and locking it to 60 fps with msi afterburner.

Can't remember what game it was, but I remember another one had this issue once. It was fixed with a quick patch.

Well Unfortunately single monitor or not makes no difference. Nor does vsync, fps limiter, windowed/full screen etc, clean drivers or anything else mentioned. Would really love to know what the hell is going on :(
