Game guides

This SECTION becomes available only when you’ve logged in and registered your game. Here you will find interesting guides written by the creators of The Witcher. They will help you to discover some elements of the game not visible at first sight. The mastery of the witchers’ arts calls for knowledge and practice. Here you will find the knowledge. We are open to your suggestions concerning future guides you’d like to receive. You can propose them and discuss about them.

Hello,First time I have every had the first post!Like the idea of rewarding those who register their game with this additional information.Really just getting use to the game at the moment and starting out on the various quests in the "Outskirts"; specifically trying to light some candles in one night whilst escorting a damsel in distress. ;)Personally I feel what would be handy is a simple giude like the first on how long the benefit of a wetstone lasts, or whether the grease on a blade lasts more then one combat, etc. Those sort of minor details that are not included in the manual or tutorials.Anyway off for a quick tour of the web site and then back to the game.

First i want to say: I love this game! Really nice work!I got the game delivered at 9:00 am and was playing it all day :)Now that i see this "game guide" section, i'm having the idea about someone of you writing a "How to get all the girls - Guide" ;)I was trying so hard to score with all the girls in the game, but (untill now) i only had success with Triss ... (i think i'm not the only one ;) )But what about all the other girls? What am i doing wrong? Are there any special tricks & tipps? What do i have to do?Please help me ;)

I really like this idea. I know I've missed out on quite a few girls by now in the game--but will definitely go back and try to 'catch them all', pokemon for adults here ;D

Fantastic game - many thanks to the devs for revitalising the story-driven rpg genreWhat I'd like to see in the guides:1) details on how the combat engine works: stats, formuiae - as much as you're willing to reveal2) more in-depth information on the skills and enhancements (stacking? if so, how?)3) hints at the more creative ways of dealing with monsters (so far I've not found many uses for non-witcher weapons - i'm sure there are some nice combos out there...)4) I've not had a chance of experimenting with alchemy besides the standard recipes. If, and that's how I understood it, there are some potions to be discovered by varying the formulae Geralt learns at/near the beginning, maybe you could hint at the principles behind that...cheers

Is that possible? I think you can't apply the learned combat technics on other weapons than the swords? o_O

I like the idea of a weapon upgrade guide because it hasn't really been explained 100% in game for me either.I would suggest a guide referencing the books we can collect in the game. Some books have a very general description, for example "This book lists plants that can be found in the swamp" but there is a second book about a specific plant in the swamp so what plants would this actually teach me? maybe only one new plant, maybe five?

What you have to remember is that these are NOT real girls, just like the other characters are not real people, so they don't necessarily respond in ways that follow logic. Then again I can say that from my experience ( and I do have some actual experience :p) that real women don't tend to respond to logic, so I guess that's not really much help, because lets face it without the introduction of a "rape" or "assault" option, gifts flattery and persistence are the best tools in the wooing world.I wonder if this game has the Leisure Suit Larry mentality, I mean who wants to fight all manner of vicious monsters and such just to be felled by some nob-eating disease?? Not me. So watch which sword you wave about ;)

Non-spoiler alchemy guide would be nice to have, i dont mean the formulas or anything like that but the general "what kind of potion is good to be made with Albedo as secondary effect ingridients" etc.

I would love to see a mathematical discussion of skill builds. Devs, if you've played Diablo II, and know about the Arreat Summit... something like that would be awesome!

I second that! There's no parser and only limited information displayed in game. It follows that we'll never be able to figure out everything without you, the devs, spilling the beans about the mechanics.Pretty please???

It is obvious from reading the other threads that this is a VERY complicated game with a lot of hidden things and things that change depending on certain choices you make. I give major props to the developers for thinking these things out so far, with so many different ways to do things. I would like a game guide that showed a chapter-by-chapter (if possible) list of items/quests. Like I see in the prologue you can get red meterorite, but only if you make a certain choice and follow certain dialogue in a certain order. I am really enjoying this game, but after I finish it I want to play again and see some of the things I missed. Maybe a guide just for the secondary quests and/or item locations.
