Game has become to easy

At around level 12-16 the game has become easy. Is this normal. I am in chaper 2 now and killing a group of Rotfiends or Harpys is a breeze. The challenge that was present at the beginning of the game is absent. This is also effecting my enjoyment of the game. I was thinking maybe the game is stuck in easy mode. I had to put it down to easy to get past Letho and then put it back to normal. Is there any way to determine that th e game is in normal difficulty mode. Is this an ini entry in the configuration or something.

Yes, unfortunately the game becomes way easier once you start unlocking some more skills, get better equipment and have learned how to handle combat. That's especially evident in Chapter 2, as you said. You might want to try to switch to Hard - no reason to be afraid, since you can switch back down anytime. :)

Yes if you picked normal at the beginning then it's normal and yes most difficulties are relatively easy when you get around lvl 15 sure it depends on armor and weapons too which can make a rather big difference and some foes are tougher than others, rotfiends and harpys shouldn't be a problem on normal difficulty.

What? Too easy?

That's not what happened to me. I could play on easy without cheating. When I played on normal I had to cheat. I got tired of dying over and over again.

And when I mean cheating I mean this - Having 65,535 Orens before I leave Triss' tent, and maxing out all 4 skill trees before I reach Flotsam. It was the only was that I was able to play this game without getting pissed off.

That easy level forced me to play the game honestly.

You can always play without Quen,

Trust me, it won't be easy then.

Yes, the game gets too easy, and I started on hard and now play on dark mode. By mid-Act 2, you're practically invincible.

Hence why, as Slimgrin suggested, I do not use Quen except in the most dire of circumstances.

If you wanted a challenge with standard monsters you should try a game where you are not playing as Geralt.

That being said, I guess it would be good if enemies where more numerous and perhaps a little bit faster in higher difficulties.
